Comcast Users: ISO Lost Features

Before I bother with the clueless Comcast help desk, do other Comcast users know why my Comcast converter box no longer will respond to advanced commands from my Comcast remote, like the “TV Guide” feature, or even having the channel number show up when I change channels! I rarely use the “on-demand” features, so I can’t rigthly say if I’ve lost this, or what.

Anyway, just wondering what the SD has to say before I enter Comcast hell.

Did you try new batteries in the remote?

Did you unplug the unit (from the electric outlet), wait a couple of minutes, and plug it back in?

These are probably the first things Comcast will ask you to try.

Back when I had Comcast, I think there was an option in the box’s configuration menu as to whether the box would show the time or the channel. Maybe your setting was reset.

But Comcast occasionally sends software updates to its cable boxes that remove features and replace them with different ones. Could be you’re suffering from the latest improvement.

I don’t have Comcast for cable-TV, but I do have it for internet. Comcast told me in August that that my old modem would no longer work come November 9th(?) and I needed to upgrade it by purchasing or renting a new one. Perhaps you need a new cable box for similar reasons.
