Recently watched this movie on TCM. I’d seen it before, and I could have sworn that it ended with Burt Lancaster’s character running off with Terry Moore’s character, and then getting killed in a car accident almost immediately.
But that’s not what happened. Burt stayed with Shirley Booth and Terry Moore married her boyfriend.
I’ve since been searching at IMDB to try and find out what movie ended the way I remembered. I was pretty sure Burt was in it, and if not Shirley Booth then maybe Shelly Winters. But there’s no movie with those characters that happens as I remember.
Anyone remember a 50’s-era black and white movie where a disgruntled middle-aged man married to a frumpy woman runs off with a boarder and gets killed in a car accident?
Hard to believe Sheba had an alternate ending.
