What movie is this?

I thought it was Come Back Little Sheba but I watched that last night, and it’s not.

50’s era, and all I remember is the ending. A middle-aged husband took off with a sweet young thing, and they were almost immediately killed in a car crash.

Maybe Queen Bee?

It’s from the right decade (1955) but the couple aren’t running off together. John Ireland realizes Joan Crawford manipulated his fiancee into committing suicide, and that Crawford’s husband is planning to kill her and himself.

While the husband is distracted, Ireland announces he’s supposed to drive Crawford to a party they’re all attending and deliberately wrecks on the way, killing the two of them.

Crawford’s husband is growing attracted to her younger, nicer cousin but they don’t try running off and both survive to the credits.

Tess, could be. I avoid Joan Crawford movies like the plague though. I’ve seen Mildred Pierce, Woman on the Beach, and Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

But that could be it.

Well, there was Elizabeth Taylor’s fatal car crash at the end of BUtterfield 8

I asked at IMDB and apparently the movie is Hot Spell. Anthony Quinn and Shirley Booth. I had the right wife and the wrong husband.

Me, too. Joan Crawford reminds me of a cobra in human form, and I dislike her. As regards dramatic actresses of that era, I’m more of a Bette Davis fan.

Isn’t it Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? you’re thinking of? Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte starred Olivia Dehavilland opposite Bette Davis.

Yeah, I always get Charlotte and Baby Jane mixed up.

“But ya are, Blanche, ya are!”
