Rod Rosenstein put out a cryptic statement this evening that has the speculation machine churning that something is gonna break:
"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations."
running coach, you’re wildly off base here. Innocent people can and often should remain silent, hire good lawyers, and take full advantage of the protections guaranteed them by our Constitution. Your arguments trashing them for doing so are short-sighted and dumb.
Lawyering up was a good move. He can refer everything to his lawyer now and keep away from the shit storm. When he’s president next year, he’ll be better off for having done this.
Maybe I’m a little slow on the firing-up-of-all-cylinders tonight, but why would anyone speculate that something’s gonna break from that statement?
Released at 10 PM and specifies leaks from foreign sources. As David Frum just wrote “So there’s a story soon to break sourced to foreign intelligence officials. Please pay no attention to it”
I think the statement is about the already-printed story claiming that Trump is under investigation for obstruction, which was sourced to “officials,” the same word Rosenstein mentions.
The speculation I’ve read is that someone ordered him to put out a statement denying the story, and this is the most truthful thing he could come up with.

Washington post just amended that story to specify that the officials were not foreign.
Of course, being investigated is not, by itself, a big hairy ass deal. But he made it one by trying to get people to deny it. Otherwise, its just the start of something, or the start of nothing. Got a nickel says its gonna be something, but right now, no.

Right-wing internet news source says “Hey, pay no attention to all those mean things that left-wing news source is saying about our right-wing president! Because they’re probably fake and all!”. Yes, that is entirely credible.
Well, the article is that WaPo’s sources are wrong because other sources, that have a bias on the topic in question, say they’re wrong. Not because there’s proof WaPo is wrong. Hmm.
