Anyone know who broke this story first? First I saw was New York Times. But it broke while I was driving home from work, so I don’t know who was first.
I got one of those Windows 10 surprise popups- Breaking News!, and it took me to the Times story.
I believe it was The NY Times.

If Trump tried to get Comey to stop the Flynn investigation then we edge closer to Obstruction of Justice - and therefore Impeachment. Issue: how do you prove it.

So the beautiful part of this is that the only real way for Donald to refute Comey’s account - would be for him to release the “tapes” that Donald was threatening Comey with.
Not only is Trump not as smart as he thinks, he’s not even as as smart as the he thinks the people challenging him are stupid. He is literally incapable of believing that someone can outmaneuver him in his mental game of one dimensional Snakes & Ladders. He plays Hearts with only one suite. When he plays craps, he only rolls one die with “Winner” and “Loser” printed on it, and he inks over the latter with a Sharpie so all rolls are successful. He could literally lose the game, “Eat Your Ice Cream” by swallowing his spoon. In fact, in retrospect, it is pretty surprising he has survived this long without drowning while drinking a glass of water.
Doesn’t matter, Ryan won’t let him get impeached. Ryan won’t even let him eat peaches because Trump would probably break a tooth on the pit. At this point, Trump could hand over plans for our next generation stealth bomber and his apologists in Congress and out would argue that he’s just doing what is within presidential authority to do, so it is A-okay.
Stranger
Trump will have to deny this. Even with this Congress, I don’t see how he can stay in office if he admits he told his FBI Director to stop an investigation of a White House staffer. That’s Obstruction of Justice.
So Comey has said Trump gave him the order. Trump will presumably deny it. Will this Congress push the issue or will they choose to accept Trump’s word?
