Over the Clinton emails. Which, I imagine, is just the first thing that gives him a fig leaf of an excuse to fire the guy that’s investigating him.
On the advice of Jeff Sessions who had recused himself from the Russia situation. Hmm.
According to the Washington Post,
Apparently lying under oath is bad and stuff.
Okay, obviously, Trump seems to figure he can just appoint a yes man who will end all investigations into him. How easy is that, on a practical level, really?
Is this similar to the firing of that prosecutor in Watergate, or a totally off-basis comparison?

One of the reasons given is because Comey didn’t want to prosecute. Wow.
If there’s one thing Donald Trump can’t abide, it’s dishonesty.
The Donald abides…
Comey goes homey …
If you guys didn’t know, you live in a batshit crazy oligarchy.
Does it mean anything legally for Sessions to recuse himself with any investigations regarding Russia and then recommend firing the guy doing the investigation?
Well, many people (on both “sides” of the issue) have asserted that Director Comey should have kept his big fat mouth shut in both July and October of last year. It’s gratifying to read that the Deputy Attorney General agrees.
What I find interesting is the juxtaposition in time of this firing with the issuance of the news that the FBI was going to have to correct his testimony from yesterday before Congress. Looks like everyone had had enough of Director Comey sometime yesterday, and today, the string was cut.
His recusal not being mandated by law, he’s free to handle it how he wants.
But I think the fact that he relied upon the extensive memorandum from the Deputy AG was in part designed to take the heat off of him for this point.
Only that if Obama and his Cabinet were the ones doing it, and with the scandal present, that there would had been impeachment votes already in the Republican house.
Absolutely everything the Trump administration does should be accompanied by Yakety Sax.
I can’t think of a parallel in incompetence…maybe General Custer?
CNN rumor is that the replacement will be Keith Shiller, head of security at the Trump Organization. Seriously. Video of him leaving FBI headquarters today.
Shiller is a perfect name for a Trump toady.
I’ve been wondering how Comey lasted as long as he did. Comey has been blamed for playing politics by both sides. Which elected officials were left to support him? The Democrats were pissed about his handling of Hillary, and the Republicans were pissed about his handling of Trump. If neither side likes an appointee, neither side will attempt to throw its weight around to protect that appointee.
Several of the news media outlets have mentioned something about this being done to restore the public’s trust, but I believe it’s the trust of our elected officials that’s lacking. Time will tell. Maybe.
Sweet baby kittens.
I mean, this couldn’t make him look more guilty unless he hires Flynn to replace Comey.
Seriously? Trump reveled in constantly bring it up. He was positively gleeful about it.
CNN is running clips of Trump praising Comey for the near election letter.
