comic book app reader that reads 'Unsupported 7-zip archive format

I tried to transfer some digital .cbz files onto my phone, but I get the error message ‘Unsupported 7-zip archive format’ when I try to read them. I’ve tried several other readers, none work.

What does that mean? the files work fine on my laptop. I’m using cdisplayex on my laptop, but do not think they have an app for android. Even if they do, I don’t know if that will fix it.

Looking at file sizes, of the comics that do not work that I am getting an error message on, I think they are roughly 500KB per page while the ones that do work are closer to 1.5MB per page.

So are the pages just compressed? Can I uncompress them, or find a reader that can read compressed files on an android phone?

As I said, the files work fine on my laptop with cdisplayex.

You could probably get 7-zip on your laptop, extract it, and then recompress it into a standard zip.

cbz is just a compressed file full of images. 7zip is a compression format (and program), not as widely supported as standard zip.

What Reply said. CBR and CBz files are just standard issue zip/rar files with the extension changed. Extract and re-zip with WinRAR, winzip or similar.

I believe Perfect Viewer supports 7zip based comics files.

I’ve never tried it but have heard that you can just rename the file – change the .cbz or .cbr to .zip and it will work.

Thank you. That worked. That is much easier than converting the files into different formats.
