Comic Book Guy has a name!!!

Worst. Name. Ever.

Yeah, they did – sort of. The narrator described them as “This Kentucky family…” The gag was that the state changed for folks in different timezones, or carrying seperate feeds, or something. So what seemed definitive at first turned out to be still more ambiguation, when people started arguing about it on the internet.

What he said.

Unfunny episode, but kudos for mocking up a real Dorks-gone-wild.com, complete with video of Homer.

I thought the gag with Mario jumping off of the bus and fighting Homer Donkey Kong-style was pretty funny. Other than that, not too much to redeem this episode. I guess the Passion spoof was alright though.

Some of the celebrities were a little funny.

The Mario bit was the only thing I found funny as well. Someone on the writing staff really loves video games. It seems that about once a season they do that same joke. Last time I think it was Tetris with Homer packing the car for a road trip.

I thought it was funny that he had a perfectly average name. Made me laugh. Agree with the above post that this was a masterpiece compared to American Dad. Ugh.

This may have been the worst episode ever. I kept wanting to laugh, but few of the jokes ever came close to hitting the mark. Frankly, it was just sad. I really do wish they’d had the good sense to pack it in a few years ago, when they could have gone out while still in the upper echelons. Now I find myself just frustrated, wishing I could just not watch but still feeling the desire to support something that brought so much enjoyment. I don’t want to abandon my all time favorite show, but…well, it really is wearing down to the bare end now.

Just because he can also speak perfect English doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not Mexican.

That’s what I thought. The whole Passion of the Christ-influenced plot about Ned making biblical movies was seriously under-developed and more worthy of a full episode (even though* South Park did it!).* There was a lot more they could’ve done with this. For example, the fact that Ned (who, in past episodes, was usually the stickler for strict adherence to the Bible) was suddenly willing to take liberties with scripture in order to emphasize blood-and-guts shock tactics and show biz flash in his movies was barely explored. Likewise, the promising bit about the Mr. Burns being Ned’s financial backer was too quickly disposed of. Even though I’m not religious, I think 30 minutes devoted to a “Last Temptation of Ned Flanders” storyline would’ve been far more interesting than the “Dancin’ Homer” retread they did.

As for Comic Book Guy’s name being Jeff Albertson, I wasn’t too bothered my that. I think it will have as much of an impact on the show as when it was found out on **Seinfeld ** that Kramer’s first name was Cosmo.

I turned it off part way through. It got tiresome. The Ned Flanders gore did make me laugh, so I agree with everyone who’s said they wish that had been fleshed out more. This is the first Simpsons episode that made me give up and turn off the TV.

He not only speaks perfect English, he speaks it was a hoity-toity upper crust accent.

At least in the office. At home he speaks Spanish of some sort to his (Mexican?) wife.

Bender from Futurama is Mexican and he also has a British accent! When he wants to.

Was this episode a half hour or an hour? Because I don’t seem to have recorded all of it.

It was half an hour. The problem might be that it started at approximately 10:45 Eastern.

Wasn’t Bumblebee Man’s name revealed as Pedro in an early episode, only to never be mentioned again?

Looking for continuity in “The Simpsons” is like looking for an athiest in The Vatican.

“Come, Jeezus, my faithful chi-hu-a-hu-a!”

I chuckled when I saw Mario on the bus of Italians. They should have left the gag at that. A small, sly joke. If you weren’t looking, you’d miss it.

Instead, they did one of many “Look, it’s Homer doing something funny or weird!”

There are at least two or three extended moments each episode where the writers fill time by having Homer act bizarre for a long period of time.

Here, he did the dance at the carnival and the Mario thing.
(Of course, the Tetris gag was gold. Who hasn’t seen patterns in everything after playing that game?)

I can’t ever remember any “unofficial” episodes, and I don’t know why it wouldn’t count.

As I’m sure many people already know, it was even included in Trivial Pursuit that his official name is Comic Book Guy.
