Um, uh, okay.
Let us never speak of this episode again.
Um, uh, okay.

That bad, huh?
I missed it.
It was horrible. And why did Homer keep yelling “rube?”
It wasn’t that bad.
On the other hand, it wasn’t that good.
Copy and paste the first two sentences of this post into every Simpsons thread for the rest of the season, and that’ll pretty well sum it up.
Both the writers and the viewers are operating on pure inertia at this point. There’s nothing more than needs to be said or done with these characters but as long as there are people who will watch anything Simpsons then the writers will crank them out and as long as the writers crank them out there are certain fans who will watch them. It’s almost a closed system, were it not for Fox continuing to pump money into it.
No you didn’t. You didn’t miss a thing. If you’ve ever seen an episode where one of the Simpson kids says “Gee Homer. I’ve never seen mom that mad,” then you’ve seen the episode.
This episode gives me very little to hope for in the coming season. Completely and utterly flat and comprised of old Simpson scripts. And this is coming from a Simpsons optimist who thought last season was funny in parts.
Usually I’m the guy who’s always defending the show. As long as I get a laugh or two, I can overlook the show’s faults. Tonight’s episode gave me nothing to defend.
This is the point in the post where I would say “It can’t get any worse this season”, but, with my luck, it will.
Meh.
I thought the ending was great. I also liked the “But I’m the father” line.
What Otto said. I’ve seen worse.
Yep, the only funny part was the ending with the manatee and Burns and Smithers.
I didn’t find that very funny. The whole thing was just so hackneyed. It was like, “Look at us, we’re edgy becasue we make fun of crappy simplistic sitcom/drama plots”. Heavy-handed and boring. Yeah, some funny, laugh-out-loud points, but overall, meh.
Yeah… that line was bad. They were just begging for us to sit up and say “but what about the time!” and list 15 other episodes where Marge and Homer had a similar problem.
I did like Marge repeatedly slamming into Homer’s car. And there were one or two other funny lines, but this episode had such a retread plot that you couldn’t even try to overlook it.
Oh, and I do like the fact that we didn’t have to wait until November for the premiere this year. There are, I think, two more new ones in the next two weeks, and then they’re off for October, then back with the next Treehouse and such. Come to think of it, it would have been pretty disappointing to wait until November for this episode.
The puking manatee was the highlight for me.
There were bits of funny sprinkled in amongst the stupid, but the parts that made me laugh were outnumbered by the parts that made me say, “Boy that was stupid.”
Yeah, the cousins by dog relation was awesome, as was the mantee car wash. But most of the rest left me cold.
I thought it was pretty funny. From what I can remember: those that Wolfian suggested, along with “I see a manatee that needs a hug!” (along with the I <3 Manatees tattoo). There were others but I have the worst memory ever.
Once the new season of Cold Case gets started, I will once again make it my primary viewing option at 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Only line that made me laff was the fry cook. “He was in here with a rugged man.” Homer: “Rugged – is that the same as handsome?”
And then the fry cook says something about handsome men admire themselves in the mirror, but rugged men are admired by you in the mirror…
The only other reasonably amusing line was when the jetski thug said “We only admire two things: courage and tattoos that look like barbed wire.” I don’t know, I find that kind of funny.
The manatee plot line was patently ridiculous to the point of not making any sense, in a bad way.
I liked the absurdity of the manatee plot, assuming that was intentional. The rest was just embarrassing to watch.
Holy CRAP did that suck. And they started the season with it? That bodes ill indeed.
