Comic Con "zombies" attack deaf family's car

Drivers having to yield to pedestrians is a pretty safe bet in most vehicle/pedestrian interaction.
And since this situation involved an already-stopped car, any discussion of exceptions is doubly irrelevant. Perhaps even malarky.

Sigh. The problem is you quoted Monty in a way that made it seem like you were contradicting what he/she said and then a few posts later your “You/Me” paraphrase was inaccurate. I suspect you didn’t get Rick’s garibaldi fish reference that Monty originally quoted. I didn’t and had to look it up. The garibaldi is the state fish of CA and so it’s protected. My impression is that CA has a reputation for being overly protective of pedestrians and Monty was clarifying that they “don’t always have the right of way.” In your quote you said “In Georgia, pedestrian right-of-way is real,” which seems to imply that Monty’s post indicated that it isn’t real in CA. But nothing in Monty’s post indicated that.

They’re small, orange, and they poo in the sea?

I suspect this is the case. It’s what I learned from my Mother, a lawyer in MI, as a learning driver, but it might not be factual. Regardless, it’s good policy.

In “In The Flesh” they call it “partially deceased.”

That’s how I read it. Fools on both sides.

Take a chill pill, Monty. While his post may have seemed to imply a contradiction of yours, it wasn’t, and he said it wasn’t, and you should have let it go at that. All the “garbage” was from you. Just my perspective as an innocent bystander; take it or leave it.

Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there’s usually only one thing you can do.

It’s not that often you get to see multiple videos of an event, and then see how “the story” gets told. by different eye witnesses, newspapers, and of course, the internet.

I am “chill”.

You are mistaken and I shall leave it.

What’s that?

It’s from “A Princess Bride”

Dude… Princess Fail.

No kidding. I TRY to be the straight guy, and then this happens.

Have fun storming the castle!

What kind of grown man sees a group of nerds, some of whom are dressed up, wandering around in the street in broad daylight, clearly participating in some kind of event, as some kind of threat that it’s worth endangering others’ lives over? Is he from Florida?

One who is confused and possibly frightened by the actions directed towards himself and his family, by some of the people in the crowd? Did the driver then panic when he thought his family was under attack?

The driver is partially (mostly) responsible because he was, or should have been, in control of his vehicle. I hold blue shirt partially responsible because he chose to take an already tense situation and made it worse by attacking an occupied vehicle. Ha Ha Ha. What fun. People are paying attention to me because I think I’m hilarious. HEY, THE CAR IS MOVING! And someone was hurt! What did I do wrong? :smack:

Could someone in the crowd have realized that the crowd was mindlessly blocking the roadway? MoooOOO. Was the crowd too stupid to figure out how to allow the three blocked vehicles pass? I guess so.

I don’t know. Maybe there were still some late zombie walkers and the people decided that allowing a car in was too dangerous for them. That’s the only thing I can think of to explain it.

In any case, the driver got in there and tried to nudge people out of the way with the car. If people reacts badly to that, that’s hardly confusing.

Guy in orange shirt taps on window twice at :16, reaches down to scratch himself at :22. He never reaches for the car door handle.

IMO, the driver intended to get thru that intersection, no matter what. Note that when the video starts the rear driver’s side window is down and is quickly rolled up; IMO that happened because someone anticipated a confrontation and was erecting defensive barriers. You can also see the rickshaw driver shouting at the car to stop for the parade as the video begins.

I hope this driver is found guilty and sentenced to being run over by a car four or five times as punishment, with his medical care being his own responsibility.

“Being afraid” is not a Get Out Of Jail Free card. Reasonable people are not in fear for their lives at every little noise, gesture or even confrontation.

“Ten minutes”? it wasn’t even ten seconds that he waited.

It’s always interesting to see how the exact same video clip is viewed in completely different ways. It’s why eyewitness testimony is so terrible in court.

Even with a video of the entire event, nobody can actually say “this is what happened”.

I can say this with certainty. The old lady who was injured, was standing (not walking) in the middle of an intersection. Not in a crosswalk. Both the injured party, and the woman she was talking with, they were standing and talking, not moving. Along with much of the other odd behaviors, it certainly seems it was mob influenced.

People standing in an intersection is an “odd behavior” when there is a street festival or parade-type event going on?
