When did anyone in this strip get outed? I’ve read it since about 1986…
Oooh no, don’t tell me your paper was one of the ones that cut that sequence… it was the bravest thing I think any cartoonist has done in quite some time! Once somebody gives me the correct answer I’ll post a link.
Calvin and Hobbes–Uncle Max.
FBOFW–Laurence Poirier.
Oh, yes, and
- Elmo.
Don’t think it was ever mentioned.
Mr. Spittle.
Don’t know of any substitute teacher. The recurring teacher is Miss Wormwood, and I wouldn’t call her evil. Calvin has driven her to “two packs a day, unfiltered” and “drink[ing] Maalox right from the bottle”.
Denise Russo.
57: Four. Chip, Dot and Ditto, and Trixie.
More Fox Trot:
What’s Jason’s friend’s name? (first only)
What’s his not-girlfriend’s name? (first and last)
What’s Paige’s science teacher’s name?
What job does Peter intermittently have?
Paige once got the lead in the school play. What was her character, and why was she unthrilled about the leading man?
What’s my sig from?
Friend = Marcus.
Not Girlfriend–Eileen Jacobsen.
Science teacher = Dr. Ting.
Play --was it Romeo and Juliet? I’m not sure, but I believe she was opposite Morton Goldthwaite, Nerd Extraordinary.
What Pogo character spoke only in cnsnts?
And I’m thinking your sig is from Calvin and Hobbes, only I can’t recall the context…
He works at a movie theatre. Seems to work at the snack counter.
Why, lovable Lester Gooch, of course!
from the immortal Wedding Sequence of 1952:
Lester Gooch: She looks like the average idiotic fan of mine. I’ll take a quick survey! HEY, YOU!! How do you like ‘Fearless Fosdick’?

Go ahead; I’ve never seen the strip omitted from *The Daily Breeze–*at http://www.dailybreeze.com —since I started following it in 1986.
I did a quick search - although I couldn’t find anything specific to the Breeze, a number of newspapers ran reruns rather than print the 1993 series about Lawrence’s coming out, or a 1997 series discussing his boyfriend’s impending move to France. It’s possible the Breeze was one of them.
