This thread is for commenting on the forum rules for MPSIMS. We’ll eventually unstick it and let it sink, but we definitely want to hear your opinion.
Apparently soliciting our opinions takes all the fun out of giving them.
Yeah – millions, teeming, and not a single opinion? Who’da thunk?
It’s my most unpopular thread, ever. Even I had given up on replying to it.
Oo! Oo! I have an opinion! I think the rules for MPSIMS are fine and don’t need to be changed. So there.
Except for the lack of monkey butlers. Could we get some monkey butlers up in here?

Does this post mean we don’t need to ask permission to make a thread about a Dopefest? I just wanted to clarify.

Correct. I don’t recall if there ever was a rule requiring permission before starting a Dopefest thread (I certainly didn’t ask for any of the ones I started, even before becoming a mod), but you don’t need permission now. That post, and the same disclaimer sticky you see at the top of the forum now (as well as the original one from 2002), are really meant as a warning to the readers that the SDMB and/or Reader are not officially involved with any get-togethers.

Thank you, I asked permission the last 3 times. Oops, oh well, it is not like it hurt to ask. Especially for the first one when I was still a newbie.

Would it count as post or thread padding if I came in here, solely to tell you that I am sorry your thread didn’t do better? ![]()
I never even saw it until today. Sorry!

No, I don’t think it’s post-padding, any more than replying to a question like that is.
Yeah, I agree – totally not post-padding.
Does junior modding people about post-padding count as post-padding? 'Cause I’m totally not doing that.
(Seriously - I didn’t notice the thread before either. It’s weird how stickies are actually *less *noticeable to me, because they don’t move much. If **SkipMagic **had just started a regular thread, I would have noticed it weeks ago, I expect. There may be a moral there. Or not.)
Just wait until this thread gets unstickied. Then you’ll see some action! Most of it will just be post-padding, though, which this post totally isn’t.
I have just one question: Does asking about post-padding count as post-padding? Apologies in advance if it does
I’m not sure I really even understand the purpose of post padding, let alone why there would be questions about it. It is simply not allowed, period.
Carry on then.
Lieu to My Skip,
I think the forum rules for MPSIMS are very, very, very, very nice.

Some people – not on this board of course, but rumour has it that there are other boards on the internets – like to have very large post counts, or start threads with very large numbers of replies. If you can’t think of anything useful to say, you can keep those numbers rolling by just posting useless stuff. Not that I’ve ever done such stuff, at least, not since I’ve grown up ![]()
I’ve had a desire to buy a box of maxi-pads and use them to leave reminders and notes to myself. You know, pad posting.

Ahhh… so it’s a vanity issue then.
Rest assured I would never participate in such an narcissistic activity.
Nope, nossir, not me, never.
Alas, this poor thread. It’s been made a victim.
We shall mourn ye.
