Commercials you actually like

My husband and I love the Nextel commercial with the guys listening to Salt 'N Pepa. We have TiVo, and we’ll stop to watch this one.

I also like the new Capital One commercial where the family goes to visit Grandma and Grandpa in August, since that’s the only time they could redeem their airline miles.

I like the pickup truck commercial with Howie Long where a guy is making baby-talk to a little dog. Howie asks him about his truck, casting doubt on his masculinity, at which point the guy starts talking to a rottweiler or somesuch.

What’s so great about it is the underlying irony; to “prove” his masculinity, the guy just flat-out waffles as soon as it is questioned. What a nancy-boy; a “real man” would tell Howie to sit and spin.

I also like the Peyton Manning (Colts quarterback) cheering random people. Makes me chuckle every time I’ve seen it so far.

I like the Geico commercials with the Cavemen. They need to make a few more of those.

The camera commercial with Maria Sharapova.

I’m a simple creature.

I don’t know which cell phone company it is, but some corporate bigwig is sitting in his huge 100th floor office overlooking the city and his lackey is in there and the conversation goes a little something like this:

“Is that new phone?”

“Yes, I signed up with Vouzzouzzazz. I get free rolloever minutes and free in-network calling. It’s my way of sticking it to the man.”

“But, sir, aren’t YOU the man?”

“Maybe.”

I just love the bosses deadpan way.

I like the current crop of Old Navy commercials, only because I want to do really dirty things to cute, perky, blonde Kristin Chenoweth.

Peyton Manning cheering for regular people is always amusing. “Cut that meat! Cut that meat!” is a catch-phrase in my house.

I’m also a sucker for Bud Light’s “Real Men of Genius” radio commercials, featuring the singer from Survivor. Needless to say, I also liked the Starbucks commercial where the actual band Survivor followed that young man around through his workday, singing inspirational, '80s-style power rock as her went.

I think that these are my favorite commercials EVER. The first one I saw with him leaning over the cement rampway trying to get “his favorite account” to touch his hand just kills me. And the second one with him getting the apron from the waiter and he puts it on and goes, “YES!! YES!!!” is hilarious. Whatever ad agency came up with that idea should get a really big bonus!

I’m sorry, but I like most of the Geico commercials I’ve seen. Always funny, somehow with staying power.

Does anyone have a link to these Peyton Manning commercials? They sound funny…

Anyhow, my all-time favorite ad is a Honda commercial: The Cog

I have only seen that one once, but it was good. “I have no appetite.”

My current fave is the Rickard’s Red in the monastary commercial. Everytime the big bald guy flips from eyes down to glaring intently at the camera I crack up.

There’s a (I think) Jimmy Dean commercial where a dad is dressed like the sun and he’s cooking breakfast for his kid. The kids says something about either that’s not the way the mom does it or the kids refers to the time it takes to make the meal (I forget which cute kid stock line they went with) but then the dad says some line that ends with “That’s because I heat and warm the earth.”

So the dad isn’t dressed like the sun… he IS the sun. I crack up. I know I didn’t do it justice but trust me, wonderfully weird commercial.

It is Jimmy Dean, and I agree! “I have to be at work early to light and heat the earth.” They’ve got two of them, actually.

I also love the Peyton Manning commercials, but I’m biased. I’m from Indianapolis.

I love, love, love, the Manning commericals: D-Caf!D-Caf! http://www.mastercard.com/us/specialoffers/Commercials/index.html scroll down to the “The Professional Fan”.

I also like the Nextel commercials with the Salt -n- Peppa. Makes me chuckle every time.

Have you seen the earlier ones? In the first, the guy says ‘It’s so easy, a caveman can do it!’ Unfortunately there’s a caveman working as a PA on the film crew. ‘WHAT? Not cool, man! Not cool!’ The next commercial showed three cavement sitting in a very nice, very tastefully-decorated apartment. Light classical mmusic is playing, and they are all well dressed. ‘What does he mean by that?’ ‘That is so condescending.’

I love the music in the American Express commercial where there’s a giant robot arm moving things around and the tag line is “It’s like being a kid in a rewards store.” I will sit and watch that stupid commercial every single time, just because I really like the music.

Capitol One has a good series going with the barbarians finding new work. Eric the Foul driving a train in Toyland, Hamish the Grumpy spraying people with cologne, etc.

There’s an Arco commercial that played every week during The Amazing Race, which always made me laugh out loud. (The commercial, not the race.) A father calls his son into the room and starts this nervous, awkward speech about “You’re becoming a man now,” and “As you’re growing older, there’s some things you should know…” The kid just stares at him blankly, until the dad finally blurts out: “Son…never pay too much money for gas!”

My favorite Geico commercial, which I’ve only seen once, features a Richard Attenborough-like narrator discussing how salmon swim upstream to spawn in the same rivers where they were born. Sadly, most of them never make it, they get eaten by grizzly bears instead. But, there is good news…

I have not. That sounds hilarious.

I like the one where the M&M characters meet Santa Claus. “He does exist!” “They do exist!” Santa faints. “Uh, Santa?”

I’m not sure if it’s just a local commercial or what, but it’s for internet. There are two old people dancing to some waltzy music, then they go to dial-up and start dancing to some faster music, then by the time they get to a cable modem they are dancing to some hip hop song. I don’t know why, but those old people dancing cracks me up every time. The old woman even does the lasso move, it’s hilarious.
