Yeah, yeah, yeah… that’s what I’d expect from the guy who kept the 9/11 perps safely based in his rec room.
Well, normally seems like there would be at least a few Warnings before the 1920s style Ban Ray gets hauled out, and I’m not sure he’s even gotten one of those. If he did, it was for something like ‘not supporting a premise’ rather than trolling per se, IIRC.
It seems that the moderators are generally more intelligent and insightful than intellectually inferior persons such as yourself give them credit for, hmm? While your default response to anyone that deviates from your dogmatic capitalist democratic mindset is to bury your head in the sand and pretend that your interlocutor is only faking his contrary beliefs, the mods seem to want to encourage debates. This, by necessity, involves allowing speech that you would personally prefer to see suppressed. [As an aside, it is my experience that Westerners tend to be most militantly in favor of trampling minority viewpoints; I am always fascinated by the fact that people that claim to believe in freedom of speech and expression are always first in line to shut up anyone that deviates from what they want to hear.]
Neither you nor anyone else here has established anything approaching a prima facie case for my alleged “trolling.” All I’ve seen so far is a small pack of rabid Westerners yipping at my heels for my refusal to be brainwashed by corrupt Western ideologies.
There’s more than one monkey in this cage, I see. Yeah, howl for us, monkeys! That’s right, keep on howling!
I’m prepared to accept that you honestly believe that claims you’ve made.
That the claims are nonsensical, contradictory, ignorant of history and immune to reason are another matter entirely.
Well, judging by his answers, Comissar is either a prick or a troll. His call.
Why can’t he be both?
Like the late Joseph Stalin?
Because he either chose the “Uber Orthodox Stalinist” persona as signature for his trolling, or he is really believing that shit through and through, and in that case he’s a moron.
duhh, wut?
Well, he could be a devout communist and willing to make knowingly false claims in support of communism, and even come to believe these claims while knowing they are false…
Orwell called it “doublethink”. I don’t think he made up the concept - I figure he just gave a name to behaviour he had observed in Stalin-era communists.
I would also be interested in an answer to this.
True but I don’t think an “orthodox Stalin-era communist” would support such a vehemently anti-Communist government as the Islamic Republic of Iran which slaughtered, tortured and jailed members of the Iranian Communist party.
That would be like an Arab Nationalist who cheered on the Naqba and declared themselves a huge fan of Zionism.
He might if he perceived it as being of greater harm to a greater enemy, i.e. the United States. Just decide the Iranian communists were victims of the misguided and indiscriminate will of the Iranian people trying to eliminate the foreign influence of the Americans. The Iranian people must be helped and the best tool to do so is communism, so eagerly look forward to the day neo-Soviet tanks roll through Tehran to the thrilling cheers of the grateful masses.
Can you point me to some actual communists who did feel this way as opposed to Americans pretending to be Russian Communist expatriates on the internet.
I know multiple members of the Tudeh Party and none of them would find such suggestions remotely plausible.
I’m prepared to accept that Commissar is unusual.
Granted, I’m not an “orthodox Stalin-era communist,” and hence your guess may not be intended to apply to me, but I must say that I find this explanation needlessly complex.
Let’s go back to basics. You got it right when you stated that the Empire can be seen as the greatest current impediment to world stability and peace, and hence efforts aimed at countering its imperialistic goals must be supported. That is the beginning and the end of the analysis as far as my support for the Islamic Republic is concerned. The Empire must not be allowed to overrun the Middle East. If communists manage to stop them, then great; if Islamists do it instead, that’s fine as well. As long as Iran stands up to the Empire and fights for the freedom of Muslim people from Christendom’s oppression, it will have my full support. Our political ideals may differ, but we’re way beyond that now. When the very freedom of mankind is on the line, political differences need to be placed on the back burner.
As for tanks in Tehran… You know, I started out as a more traditional Marxist-Leninist, fully believing that Communism can be spread by the blade. I still believe that, in some situations, oppressed people need to be forcefully liberated and endowed with a proper socialist governing structure… Most of the time, though, this won’t work out. People tend to distrust foreigners, and this distrust turns to hate when the foreigners are perceived to be exercising actual control over their domestic government. We tried to liberate the Poles, the Bulgarians, the Estonians, what have you, and the thankless bastards turned on us at the first opportunity. I’ve had enough. If the people of nation X need socialism, then let them fight for it like everyone else; I’m not going to support the spilling of socialist blood on behalf of those that won’t even appreciate what has been done for them. So no, no Russian tanks in Tehran. Probably.
Is socialism always necessary?
Anyway, the Soviets didn’t “try to liberate the Poles” so much as just invade them. I’d have to read up on the history of Bulgaria and Estonia, but I rather doubt friendly invitations were sent to Stalin in either case.
Besides, if it’s the will of the Polish, Bulgarian and Estonian to turn on you, that’s their right, no?
Ok, so he’s not a troll. He’s just a prick.
No… He’s a troll… wait. he can be both. And certainly is.
