Crap. Wrong thread. I meant to post in the Modern Family thread.
lol - I wondered too, but am an indifferent watcher of Community, so I figured I must have missed something.
BTW, I watched the episode again yesterday and when someone was holding the night school class schedule, with all of those nonsense class names (Principles of Intermediate and so forth), one of the listed classes was Theoretical Phys Ed, which was a call-back to a first season episode. Someone, I think it was Britta, said that the school was great because other schools wouldn’t let you major in Theoretical Phys Ed.
How would a college student go about faking a class? Would that even be possible? I figure at the very least, some sort of official documentation would have to be submitted for them to receive credit.
You’ve got to remember, this is Greendale. It’s this close to being just another community college on The Dean’s resume that no one can contact… because it no longer exists.
It would be possible if a professor were willing to go along. He could fill out the paperwork for an independent study and report grades. But Greendale is not hotbed of competence.
Here’s a Youtube Video of a ‘Film Noir’ trailer for this episode of Community. It’s awesome.
Also, the Christmas episode of Community is going to be in Claymation. There’s a publicity still from the episode at the link.
This show is really coming into its own. It keeps getting better. Starting with the paintball episode from last year, they’ve been moving more and more into long-form parodies and spoofs, and it really works. Oh, how I hope this show doesn’t get canceled. The ratings are hovering in ‘on the bubble’ territory, where shows either survive or get canceled based on secondary factors like production cost and scheduling requirements. It’s been picked up for the full season, but no announcement yet whether it will be back next year.
I’d say it started with the Goodfellas parody about chicken fingers.
If this sort of thing bothers you , I’m not sure how you made it past the zombie episode.
In the very beginning, didn’t the dean refer to it as “independent study”? Independent study courses are designed by individual students and their professors and then have to get some kind of approval. The dean revoked approval of Winger’s independent study after becoming aware of its dubious nature. I’m assuming Winger had faked and submitted all the appropriate documentation.
The dean: “I always dreamed of playing charades with you, Jeffrey, but not like this and not on dry land.”
