The commies gave polio to Doris Day?
Was Abed eating cereal with two giant yellow pencils?
I was glad that nobody disabused Troy’s vision of Annie going to the movies with her [del]boobs[/del] bubbe, who is not dead.
Funny show. But of the TV shows that have done a “musical episode”, I think Community wins for least actual musical talent in the cast. And the one cast member who can sing (Shirley) didn’t really get many of the musical bits.
Well, one of them is dead.
Troy:
“Show me how to open a box.”
“Is this a bit?”
“Boo-pee-doo-pee-doo-boop Sex!”
Dean: “Oh, Britta’s in this?”
I laughed, hard. That line was delivered perfectly.
I like when Brita is used as a tool of intentionally ruining things.
Not my favorite episode, but I respect their ambition and just how hard it is to pull off a Glee parody. I think they did darn near as good as could be imagined, especially without being able to use licensed music.
They couldn’t spare ten seconds so a tall blonde in a tracksuit could deliver a snarky put-down?
If you look at it strictly as attempting to be a great Glee parody, it misses the mark by a pretty good margin. But it was still a very entertaining episode of Community.
Ok, so what was with the references to the cast replacing the glee club previously? Was that off camera, or did I miss an episode?
It was from Paradigms of Human Memory, the clip show of clips from adventures we hadn’t seen before.
OK I have to say this episode was a keeper! I’ll watch it again just to see Troy and Abed’s performances. And give me more of that Annie bit anytime.
I prefer this bit of absolutely brilliance. And cut the cake, my lord…
You know, as useless as Shirley is, I bet they could use her a lot more if they were willing to make fun of religious people to a greater degree. That scene is pretty funny, and it would be the best use of her character, but they’re pretty soft on the issue.
This was an awesome episode. I was like the cast very skeptical of the glee theme, but it was great! Baby Boomer Santa was my conversion moment.
Noodles, but, yes, those were pencils.
Loved the references to the nonexistent episode and Annie’s Christmas Song skewered “Santa Baby” perfectly.
She does a brain-meltingly good non-skewered Santa Baby, too.
