'Community' 12/8/11-- "Regional Holiday Music"

During the Baby Boomer Santa number, there is a quick reaction shot of Annie, Britta, and Shirley doing the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” monkey gestures. I especially loved Disco Abed in that scene.

The scene with the little kids singing and Shirley getting more and more agitated gets funnier every time I watch it.

BTW, Danny Pudi and Yvette Nicole Brown both had brief cameos on Chuck this week!

I like that Baby Boomer Santa fought at Woodstock and Vietnam. Dovetails nicely with last week’s episode, where Abed broke into his landlord’s apartment while he was watching Woodstock fetish porn.

Save Greendale

Thanks for this. I know the word bubbe so it just meant grandparent. Troy’s reaction made no sense until now.

Thanks for this, too. The Queen of all back-references. From before Community started, even.

Donald Glover’s rap was a reference too. He just put out an album as Childish Gambino.

The best part of this show was using all original songs so you had to listen carefully to the lyrics, which were great.

Since Yvette Nicole-Brown is a Christian I doubt they’d do that.

Yeah, I have a good feeling he wrote the rap for the episode, because it sounds similar to what he does as Childish Gambino.

I just watched it again. Britta and Annie are so hot. sigh

Not merely Woodstock fetish porn, but Quantum Leap Woodstock fetish porn. A twofer!

I loved Troy’s comment (in the Baby Boomer song) about their “smoking acid”.

Whatever happens with Community, I hope that Danny Pudi and Donald Glover team up again. They’re on par with Cheech and Chong, Laurel and Hardy, and pretty much every other super famous comedy duo, and worlds funnier than Martin & Lewis or McCain & Palin.

It actually took a second viewing for me to see the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” theme. It was seeing Jeff’s Donald Sutherland scream impression that it finally hit me.

If they cancel this show, please keep me informed of any opportunities to OCCUPY something until it is returned.

Well, there’s always staging a suicide to look like a protest of its cancellation.

I heard people were sending paintballs to NBC if they cancel.

Yes, there were many laugh-out-loud moments in this episode. But the part where Britta approaches Jeff and he turns around with that Glee-ful face immediately reminded me of Body Snatchers. Jeff was possessed! Britta’s reaction was priceless. To me, this was the funniest episode since Remedial Chaos Theory.

Did you see her playing a stripper in “Choke”? Do an image/video search of “Gillian Jacobs” choke, you will not be disappointed…

The whiteboard was easy this week. It was just a Christmas pageant poster. The blackboard behind Britta and Abed was almost readable:

HELP US HELP YOU

For some reason it looked to me like he microwaved a bowl of Cookie Crisp.

So, in Baby Boomer Santa (link)), what are the different impersonations?

  1. Early 60s girls group.
  2. Chuck Berry
  3. Bob Dylan
  4. ?
  5. Bee Gees
  6. Kraftwerk
  7. ?

It starts with the Andrews sisters.

Wow, between Anne’s scene in this and the naked Sarah scene on Chuck, looks like I chose the right week to pick up an HDTV.

Really hilarious, I was laughing so hard at boopityboopity sex whats a dimblahbabab that I had to stop and rewind the OnDemand, and that’s not something I do lightly because that thing’s as responsive as a slug in molasses.

Whole episode was great, most of the best parts have already been mentioned, but I also liked some of the Glee jabs, like “why is your piano still playing” and “where’d this guy come from”.
