Community 4/26/12 -- Basic Lupine Urology

“Objection!”

“I’ll allow it.”

“Sustained.”

I was worried about that too. I may have missed a lot, but there was enough to keep me rolling. It was hilarious.

Yeah, I have never seen a second of Law & Order, but it worked very well as a generic crime-show parody.

I loved how the witnesses kept doing whatever they were doing while being interviewed, just like in L&O.

I loved all the sound effects in the background whenever they were outside. Sirens and jackhammers and traffic.

And the sitting on the corner of desks.

And the New York style paper cups.

One minor note in what I’d otherwise consider a perfect episode is that the phone call at the end wasn’t short enough. If they’re going to spoof L&O, that call should have been two seconds, tops, before the character who answers hangs up and then relates a good 15 seconds of information to the others, as though the person making the call was the fastest talker in the world - John Moschitta on crack.

“Phew”
“Uniforms”
“uh uh”

Now that I think about it – how did they do such a perfect “Law & Order” parody in half an hour? It seemed like it had everything a normal L&O episode would have, but that’s twice as long…

P.S. Michael Ironside is awesome.

P.P.S. The cameo from the medical examiner woman was double awesome, although they did something very similar on “Corner Gas” with the woman from “Cold Squad”.

I loved how the witnesses, suspects, etc all had a “too clever” one-liner ready to drop into the conversation at a moment’s notice. Pure L&O.

I just got the joke in the episode title “Lupine Urology” – Dick Wolf.

A lot of things I loved about this episode have been mentioned, but I really loved how Troy and Abed not just acted but walked like the detectives in L&O. It’s kinda a shoulder lead swagger (except for maybe Jesse Green.)
My Better Half started dying laughing partway thru the episode: “OMG!!! Look at Abed’s scarf!”

I really loved that episode.

Good things about this episode:
[ul][li]Troy and Abed’s sting operation.[/li][li]“I can hear both of you.”[/li][li]Troy and Abed not arresting Todd[/li][li]The ME from L&O.[/li][li]‘Greendale Community College is represented by two separate yet equally important types of people; The Goofballs that run around stirring up trouble and the Eggheads that make a big deal out of it. These are their stories.’[/li][li]“He’s been on edge since we switched.”[/ul][/li]
Things that fell flat:
[ul]Not a damned thing.[/ul]

“You can do this to the image. Now it looks like the Old West.”

Britta didn’t have much to do in this ep, but that was damn funny.

I actually cracked myself up with this. Last night I read the thread but watched the show today on Hulu.

Last night when I was reading I kept thinking, “who the hell is Todd?” When I saw him I remembered that he’s the guy that everyone forgets is there.

But yeah, loved the episode. I can’t wait to watch it again tonight.

One of my favorite things was Chang as the guard in the courtroom (sorry, it’s NOT a courtroom), mouth agape, just standing there.

And I confess that I got a bit sad at the final news of Starburns. They did a nice reaction shot between Annie and Jeff at the end.

Which was also pure L&O. Is there anything this show can’t do?

Britta as the computer whiz was hilarious. “I transferred or downloaded Todd’s picture …”

Shirley tapping on the aquarium!

“Non-police business!”

“Kiss me! I’ll explain later!”

“The explanation isn’t the issue!”
