I noticed on rewatching that the vendor was another Greendale student – Garrett Lambert.

I can’t see Garrett now without thinking, “That’s saved Garrett?”

This is an interesting read on why Starburns/Alex was killed off.

Thank you! I had no idea - but then, even after you told me I had to look up Dick Wolf, so I guess it wasn’t my fault.

Yes, as a software developer, I always hate the way TV characters spout random tech phrases and try to pass it off as meaningful - this was a great gag.

I fear I’ve come too late to the party to do anything except say “me too” but I thought this was the best episode all year. It was dead-on parody (I have never seen L&O) of crime-law shows and they nailed every bit of it.

Which lead to one of the best lines of the series:

Change: THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD’VE SHAVED THAT INTO THE SIDE OF YOUR FACE!

I realized when I saw the law and order credits I was going to love the show. Not that I have any special love for L&O, but just that I knew it was going to be a full-on concept episode, and I’ve grown to love them. Occasionally people complain about how off its premise the show has become but that’s fine with me - they often strike gold when they just go all out.

Where is it that Pierce falls asleep in that’s adorable? The sunroom? I couldn’t quite catch what he said.

In a sunbeam.

It wasn’t just that, but also a dead-on parody of the way L&O goes into over-expository mode whenever something techy comes up and they bring in the “expert”.

And as others have mentioned the “interview and work” is a classic L&O staple.

A detail I missed until review: Shirley’s project for “Advanced Spanish” was to make a pinata.

Greendale is not a good school.

Remember, Chang wasn’t even a real teacher.

The middle also had a very “Few Good Men” feel to it. When Col. Markham (er, Michael Ironside) got to Starburns and hid him away, the scene with Annie and Jeff felt like it was taken straight from the scene between Kaffee and Galloway talking about their case falling apart. I half-expected Ironside to blurt out “you’re goddamn right I did!” at some point.

It’s not every day that you read the phrase “umber hulk” in Entertainment Weekly.

They even got Col. Markham’s insignia right. Those *were *JAG pins on his lapels, weren’t they?

But then, if he was Todd’s CO, what was Todd doing disarming an IED?

IED - Interservice Ethical Dilemma

Found in many military courtrooms.

I thought he was Todd’s uncle or something. Doesn’t he make a comment about telling Aunt Sylvia or whatever?

Yes, he was Todd’s uncle, not his C.O. He was in town for a family wedding and was camping on Todd’s sofa.

And he was going to tell Todd’s mother on him.

Must have been a younger brother.

Loved, loved,* loved *this episode, and I don’t even watch Law & Order.

But what the heck was up with the final scene with Troy and Abed in the bunk beds? I know the “kicker” scene (is that what it’s called?) is often something of a non-sequitor, but it usually ties back to the episode in *some *way in tone or subject. That had nothing to do with anything, and broke the parody to boot. I was confused.

If any episode deserves to be rewatched on a DVR, this is it. However when I’ve watched it again, I just stop before the final scene. You’re right, it doesn’t fit.

Who knows? The kicker may relate to the rest of the season instead. Wait for it…
