That was a line from Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode 3x20, The Prom.
Heh. Well done, you got me, I should have recognised the Buffy line, because I was a big Buffy fan. But I don’t remember every single line from Community, so I assumed that you were quoting something from Community. That is a reasonable assumption, isn’t it?
If your point is that other TV shows also tried to justify potential relationships with huge age and maturity differences, then, well, that’s not a great argument.
No, I was saying that Annie (and Cordillia) were both legal adults. They could date 25 year-olds, 50 year-olds, or 90 year-olds if they wished.
OK. Did you think I was saying it was illegal? JIC, no, I wasn’t.
Jeff’s lack of emotional maturity is constantly referred to in the show. So even though that’s a Buffy line it fits Jeff to a tee.
The fact that Annie, while naïve and inexperienced, was probably the most mature and intelligent member of the group made their relationship slightly more palatable.
Which only reinforces my opinion that the most Method actor of them all, Daniel Day-Lewis, wimped out by not taking a bullet to the head while researching Lincoln
The problem, however, is that Jeff is not intellectually at the same level as Annie, and is quite manipulative. He very much could have taken advantage of her naivete, which is what I believe makes it seem uncomfortable. I’ve known couples with disparate ages who didn’t feel that way, but it was because they seemed to be at the same level in most ways. If anything, being emotionally more mature wasn’t a problem.
I would also opine that, as the show progressed, Brie started looking older than Jacobs. Their skin just aged differently. It’s not that I couldn’t accept Annie as being young, but more that Britta didn’t seem to age.
That said, I do know people who age slowly and people who age quickly. I had a friend who looked older at 21 than people I knew in their 30s.
I don’t think it was ever a running thing that Troy was always striking out with women.
If anything he did put them off from nerd behaviours, but not a complete failure with them as far as I remember.
Are we talking about the same Troy?
Are you giving him an all tomato to prove it?
I think it was the butt stuff.
Gotta ask, was the relationship between Britta and Troy (9 year age difference) inappropriate?
