If she has money, then why not just sue her in civil court?
I found this number online: FACEBOOK SUPPORT NUMBER @ +1-855-894-4442.
Someone in India did answer the call.
This number got answered as well. No idea whether they’ll be of any help, but hopefully they can at least point you in the right direction. Best of luck.
She would have to be.
It’s illegal in the US as a violation of the Computer Fraud & Abuse Act. Germany probably has a similar unauthorized access statute but you’d have to Google it.
I’m just waiting for the posts from Moe that abruptly shift to apology and praising the ex-girlfriend and saying everything was his fault and just a big misunderstanding…
If you know her email address have you tried working through her “forgotten password” questions to see if you can gain access to her email?
WTF would he want to do that?
She might be, but you’re not.
So he could regain control to his Facebook account. Honestly, it’s among the first things I thought of, too, since she re-routed the password reset to a new email address. It’s not necessarily the “right” solution, but it’s “a” possible solution.
I just wanted to point out that in most places where hacking is illegal, counter-hacking a hacker is also illegal.
This was many moons ago. Can’t remeber the details. All I remember is that I would contact them by email, then have to wait 2 or 3 days to get a reply. After a week of back and forth, they told my to send the pic.
Judging from your OP, I’m guessing things are a lot different at FB now.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. She did file a police report (which I’m guessing the officer saw on his computer as I reported the stalking thing. He did see that she had once lost her license temporarily some years ago due to drugs). And I mentioned the stolen car as it was the event that led to me giving her the tablet, but he didn’t show any special interest in this.
Well, I might at some point. But now I’m most interested in the urgent matter of regaining control of my FB account. I do have a lawyer on the case, but it being Christmas and all, I can’t make much progress at the moment. In any case, German law is not like the US in these matters. It’s not so easy to sue for these astronomical amounts that are commonplace in the states. But I’ll eventually find out I’m sure.
Called it today. It seems this is not an official FB number, but a hacker service. They answered “Customer service”. I replied “is this Facebook customer service?”. He said “yes we do customer service for facebook”. I explained the situation and he said he could help me but it would cost $99.99. Admittedly I was tempted.
Now this number does in fact seem to be an official FB number. BUT, not much help. Whether you press 1 for customer service or 2 for law enforcement, you get a recording that simply says something like “unfortunately, FB is not providing telephone service at this time. Please check same-links-I’ve-already-tried-30-times for more information”… BUT there is a tiny bit of hope. The law enforcement menu did provide an email address that was only for a law enforcement official to use, and by writing in the subject line “imminent” one could theoretically get a prompt response. So now the challenge is tomorrow to go to the police and convince an officer to write to this email address… in english (since the recorded menu is in english). Not so easy, but I will try. Thanks for finding this number!
Don’t put off anything too important while you wait.
I have of course thought of that. The problem is, as I mentioned earlier, I don’t even recognize the domain of the email she created, and though someone upthread gave me the whois link with this information, I wouldn’t know what to do with it.
I think pretty much every email I’ve ever had has been accessible by typing in http://mail.domain name, for example if I do that with what her email is I get to this sign in page: https://mypage02.web.de/
Yes, I did that already. So you come to this web.de page and then what? If you put in the handle and click “passwort vergessen” (forgot password), it doesn’t recognize the handle. Again, the domain in the email address in question doesn’t give you much info. This can be hosted by someone’s server in their own apartment who has registered with web.de.
Oh, I wasn’t expecting that from you but “Moe”, i.e. she eventually finds your SDMB password and posts as you, claiming it was all your fault and she’s a saint etc.
Consider me whooshed.
Sometimes it doesn’t work, it was worth a try. Do you have any mutual friends who think what she’s doing is crappy and will help convince her to quit or help you take your fb back?
Pretend to make up with her and steal it back?
I’d be concerned that she’d really pull some crazy shit, if that was done.
Like a false accusation of rape, or something similarly drastic.
The lady is crazy. I’d try to get the FB page back under control, and stay the fuck away. Let her go obsess/stalk/harass someone else, but protect yourself.
