I’m looking to get a computer card game. I would like one where the computer provides a real challenge and plays like a reasonable human being would with varying difficulty levels. Something with the basics (poker, spades, blackjack, etc.) would be nice. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
These are all free.
Off to IMHO.

We got a CD of Hoyle’s Card Games a few years ago. I think it would satisfy most of your criteria. The play in Hearts is a lot cagier than in Microsoft Hearts, and while still somewhat formulaic it has largely smart (and sometimes annoyingly effective) strategy. The “players” in Poker will sometimes bluff. An extra dimension is that the various players have different personalities, and with the sound opted on will chatter (relevant to the game) as they play. I have a lot of fun playing with Hoyle, and still find it appropriately challenging.
If you like poker you can play online at Pacific Poker with either play money or, if you’re a betting person, real money on your credit card, but either way you are playing against real people. Makes it more interesting in my opinion.
