Computer games you've bought, possibly during a Steam sale, and never played

I just counted and I’ve got 33 games on my Steam list that I’ve bought but have not opened once. Some of those were as parts of bundles, but some were just straight up individual purchases. I’ve also got another 12 games that I’ve played for less than an hour - basically, opened once, meant to get back to, and never did. Odds are that I’ll get into six or eight of them at some point over the next couple of years; I need to stop using my vacations to travel and go back to using them to play computer games!

On the other hand, I’ve probably spent about $100 or $150 total on those 45 games, over the last 4-5 years, so I don’t feel too bad about it.

I keep thinking I’ve got Steam beat because I’ve already bought everything I’m likely to want. But… I’ve broadened my interests. Here’s what I’ve got that I don’t know when I’ll ever get around to playing:

Alpha Protocol
AlernativA
Arcania
Arcania: Fall of Setarrif

Broken Sword 1-3
Brutal Legend
The Cave (Got the first major quest completed)
Divinity II: The Developer’s Cut
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition (already had Dragon Age; bought the bundle for expansions I don’t know when I’ll ever play)

Geneforge 1-5
Gothic III Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition
Grand Theft Auto III

The more games I buy, the lower becomes the likelihood that I’ll get through so many.

Sturmovik is awesome. Admittedly there’s a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve played it *far *more than any game on Steam. Looks like … 459 hours.

To deal with this, I buy my games as gifts, unless I know for sure I’m going to play them right away.

Arkham Assylum is still in the bin.

There are also some games that came from Humble Bundles, but I never really intended to play them.

You know, that’s really not a bad idea. I might try that, in future steam sales.

Yeah, that one I would like to play but don’t think I could get it running.

I have a fairly ridiculously large Steam library. I’d estimate as much as 70% I haven’t actually gotten around to trying out. I have at least that many game keys lying around in various services that I haven’t gotten around to activating yet, too. I’ve gotten into the habit of checking games sales for a few minutes daily, and for a few bucks I’ll pick up pretty much anything that seems potentially interesting. Sure, a lot of it’s kind of wasted, but honestly a few hundred bucks a year on games is well within my budget and I justify it as channeling my hoarding tendencies into something that doesn’t take up physical space.

On that note, if anyone is interested in organizing some sort of spare game key exchange, I have quite a lot to barter with.
