I’m getting no sound from my speakers. The cords are plugged in properly, and the volume is turned up. The problem isn’t with the speakers themselves - this is confirmed by the brief sound I hear when I turn them on.
When I access the control panel and try to adjust the sound, I get the following message:
Is there a way to fix this? Or do I need to take my computer to a shop?
I should note that I’ve got a couple of Trojans that Norton Antivirus has been unable to clear, and I’ll probably need to take my computer to the shop eventually.
I had a sound problem that drove me crazy a few months ago. It ended up being some kind of Windows virus or something. Windows was looking for sound in all the wrong places. You dont have an external sound device do you? I can only suggest that you download the latest Windows fixes. I ended up having to take mine in to get it fixed.
SndVol32.exe is a Windows component - it’s the volume control System Tray utility (or something like that) - it sounds like yours is either missing or damaged - you can restore it from a Windows install CD if you have one (a proper Windows install CD, not one of those ‘factory reset’ image disks) - details of how to do this are found here
