Confessions of A Shirtaholic… The MMP

zombie drivers go out for take out braiiinnnns…

I finished my all-day training in 2 hours. Woot! Now I can work on actually setting up the website, rather than talking about it. We got the bare bones up during training and it’s beyootiful. Well, ok, it’s “branded”, so it’s hideous, but that’s our brand and we’re stuck with it.

I went to the yarn shop at lunch to pick up some wool wash and walked out with wool wash, 2 skeins of ruby red Cascade 220 superwash and 10 skeins of Noro Kureyon in 170 (best described as subdued rainbow). I’m going to make another Lady Eleanor with the Noro. I lurves me some Noro.

My jaw still hurts like crazy. I have physical therapy on Monday. I hope that will help.

Dotty, yeouch! Poor HRH!

Welcome back, Mama Tigs!

We just got back from dinner and a fun and exciting trip to Rite Aid. Now I’m trying out a lovely wrist brace. It makes typing very interesting. Actually, I mostly bought it to wear while driving because that’s when my poor posture/driving habits tend to act up. Makes sense, though… Carpool Tunnel Syndrome!

Hoorah for the new dogs and cats, peoples. Bear and the lil Siamese look extra cute. I would have 6 or 7 cats and 3 or 4 dogs iffen I could. Or even more.

We walked past an outdoor adopt-us-kitties display this weekend. There were two buff and cream kitty brothers… I was almost in tears as we walked away. I get really emotional at these things, and my poor wife has to drag me away all weepy and such. Thing is, she is even more nuts about animals that I am. Likes them more than people most times she does.

I made rillettes with duck and pork today for the holidays. Made the house smell meat-a-licous, they did. They taste better with age, so the Christmas ones will be better than the Thanksgiving ones. I will supply the resk-i-pee if anyone wants.

DosBro I am so glad you provided a link that explains what rillettes are. I was picturing a 1960’s Motown girl group bein’ stuffed with duck and pork. It was not a pretty picture!

Heard around the Soapy household…

“Mom, by the way, you need to make paella for Monday. We’re having a fiesta in Spanish”.

Paella??? I have to make Paella for Monday??

I am in perpetual brluf mode
After too many hours facebooking last night, I got in to bed around 11:30 and turned on Food Network. I was peacefully dozing to the sound of Alton Brown brining a turkey, Smokey happily curled up on my stomach, when ** my smoke detector started screaming at me!** Smokey made a mad dash for cover, and I sprang out of bed, TV remote still in my hand, checking and sniffing everywhere. It stopped after about 15 seconds, so I got back into bed. No sooner had I pulled up the covers when it started screaming again. I got up and sniffed harder, pulled down the attck hatch and sniffed and listened for the rustling of whichever critter may be up there (no sound, thank Og). After anouth 30 seconds of quiet, it screamed again. This time I stood under it and yelled at it to knock it off - it was now about 12:45am and I was wide awake. After a few pathetic spurts of noise, it stopped. I sat up reading for another hour, a if to dare it to start up again, and finally got back into bed.
Nice, friendly, gentlemanly Tenant (henceforth known as NFGTenant) picked up a couple of 9 volt batteries for me on his home (I’d called him because I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop (too much hurt) on my way home) and met me at the door. He climbed the step later and loosened the cover to change the battery only to discover that it a hard wired unit.
So why did it misbehave like that last night?
grrrrrrrrr  (and really really tired)

I hereby christen you Agony Uncle Swampy.
makes mysterious wavy motions with hands

Rosie- some hardwired units have battery back ups in case the power goes out. Could yours have a 9V somewhere in there anyway?

No, NFGTenant looked - he didn’t see any

Guess what???

I’m posting this from my BRAND NEW LAPTOP!!!:D:D

More details later…

Hey…Pie stole my first!!!

But…new laptop??? Shiny!!!

Long day. Fell asleep for a while and woke up a bit ago. Going back to sleep soon.

Welcome back, BioTigs! I’m envious of your inaugural ball tickets…well of you getting to go to an inaugural ball, anyway. Sounds like fun.

Where’s rigs???

Back to beddy bye.

GT

Yay for MamaTigs return - glad to have you back, we missed ya.

Poor HRH! I hope she gets better quickly, Dotty. And I’m guessing that things went well for your hubby in Riyadh? Yay!

Yay for CutiePie’s new lap top, and good thoughts sent to GT’s.

Fortunately, the training is over. High Performance Organizations training, for the past three days. If anyone has had Lean Six Sigma, it was along those lines. I’m still not exactly sure what the training was about–it’s hard for me to make heads or tails of any of that sort of thing, unfortunately. I was supposed to have training tomorrow too, off-site (on something different), but decided that three days of training was more than enough for me. Plus I really have to finish my packing, etc. in advance of the new carpet installation. :smack: Just shoot me now!

They are normal rings that go on our fingers.

Back from the back doc… He was unhappy and unsurprised at the insurance co. denying the original pain meds prescribed by my regular doctor. He was, however, unhappy and surprised at a particular reflex being missing. His exact words, after tapping on my hamstrings was “Dead.” It’s not good when nerves are unresponsive. So, I now have samples of a different med that will probably be unchallenged by the insurance, and an MRI scheduled for Tuesday.

Good mornin’ y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Where was the night crew?

gotti my comment was in poor taste. Even for me. Sorry for that. I just know the rings are all shiny and purty.

Yay for new laptop CutiePie!

Spaz I am honored.

Ok, time for more caffiene and brekkie foragin’.

Later Y’all!

So… Here I am once again on my shiny new candy apple red Sony VAIO laptop. Apparently Best Buy took my letter into consideration and decided to give me a new one. It’s very similar to the old one in size and weight, but of course since it’s almost 3 years newer it’s alot faster. The only thing that I had to pay for was a new extended warranty. Hooray!

TVMan has been very sweet and helped me set up most everything. All that’s really left is the stuff that is on my NAS drive which happens to be at home right now. I’m glad that Best Buy made this decision yesterday while I was already in TVLand. The whole process took about an hour but that’s mostly because I was trying to decide what kind of laptop I wanted.
P.S. Neither of us is exactly impressed by Vista. Oh well.

Rosie, some models of smoke detectors will give false alarms with dust or a moderately strong wind current. I doubt you had a thunderstorm going in the house at midnight. Also, most battery powered detectors chirp when low, not sound off for half a minute at a shot.

Blurf. I have a 6 hour stint in the Betsytown ER immediately after work today. No ugly sleep for me tonight.

thank you

off and running - car, hair, nails, 2 errands, change clothes, do make up, chorus show.
all with little or no caffeine (don’t ask why - no answer - just know no time to stop)
Oy!

laterz!

Eh… now that’s a weird one… if you leave Roomies in English it’s Casa de los Roommates (male, plural), but in Spanish Roommates are Compañeros de Casa. Casa de los Compañeros de Casa sounds like you work at the Department of Paperwork for Paperwork Redundancy Department.

bearie one, if you’re afraid of expired drivers don’t go down to Flahrda. About half the drivers there appear to be expired. I’d say “specially in the winter” but the winter also sees the largest amount of drivers who appear unlicensed, or at least like they’re using fake ID.

soapy, would a tortilla de patatas be acceptable? It’s mucho Spanish (more so than paella, which is a regional dish) and easier to get “just so.”

I’s in training the next few weeks. The trainer has good intent but horrible technique. The data blows: yesterday Sheboss (who is back from vacation and in full Mommy mode) insisted that we practice in pairs what we’d seen in the morning, but the thing is… there’s no data set up, in the system we can access. So we can create a Project of Type 111 but not of any type between 1 and 110, nor of any type between 112 and 450; we can only use one type of worker; there’s only one material that works; there’s only one valid value for any flag or field as everything else is “not set up in this system, only in the real one and well, actually piecemeal.”

And we really do need the training, so I don’t even have the recourse of pulling back the trusty techniques learned back in school to look totally attentive while mentally composing a “sonata for seven violins and one rubber ducky”!

Good morning!

All that looking forward to time off is for nought - We have a deadline and I’ll be working Friday and Saturday. I get paid overtime though, so that’s good. It won’t be so bad when I get my paycheck!

Gotta get busy. Hugs, yays, boos and wet trouts - distribute ass required…
