I know this is a little bizarre, but I’ve never seen anything like this before. I installed the game (PC version, Windows XP), boot it up, and it tells you to create a profile. Okay, so I do that. I type in my name and hit enter (which it tells you to do on-screen) but it doesn’t work. It’s not registering the “Enter” button. So it’s just sitting there. I can’t go back because it’s not recognizing “Escape” either, so all I can do is Control-Alt-Delete and start over.
So I do. This time, I skip the profile and use my mouse (which is working fine) to choose “Start Training”. So it goes to the training mode, with the drill sergeant yelling at me to move my ass, but I can’t! Why? Because it’s not recognizing any of the movement keys on the keyboard! I can move my head (i.e. the view) around with the mouse just fine, but the program is simply not recognizing my keyboard.
So since I’m in training mode, after I stand there for like two minutes this little box comes on-screen and says: “Walk forward (???)”. So I’m assuming the question marks would normally say “W” (because that’s the default setting for move forward) but it’s almost like the default settings weren’t programmed into the game! And I can’t re-map the settings because I can’t create a profile because it won’t register the “Enter” button (although, please note that I can type my name in just fine while creating a profile… that works!).
I’ve tried reinstalling, etc… and my keyboard works fine everywhere else. Has anybody ever heard of a problem like this, or have any suggestions on what to try?
