Confused and chastened by Tubadiva

Scylla You, of course, could have simply limped away, without your last post. Tired jokes don’t be-cum you.

No, if it was like the Brady Bunch, she’d have blamed the whole thing on Cousin Oliver…

Kudos, Tuba. Posters like Scylla are what makes this a great place, not one to be ashamed of. Now SPOOFE, on the other hand…well, there’s no excusing that.

Hmph. Genius is never appreciated in its time.

Thank you, Calvin!

This thread has been graced, twice now, by one of the classiest people on the planet. Jenny, all the best to you, my dear.

Wow, very classy, TubaDiva.

We appreciate the post.

Tibs.

Not to nitpick, but I’ve posted more than twice. I appreciate the compliment, though. You’re awful sweet yourself.

Yea, TubaDiva!

(I know “me too” posts are bad. But dang me, I can’t think of anything of substance to add, but I just have to express my appreciation for our lovely and talented administrator.)

Best of luck in the job hunt, Jenny. I hope verything works out for the best for you.

Glad that’s cleared up, but, Jesus…no one cured cancer or anything.

Yeah, but you know, I think the recent posts show the flip side of the oft-cited “pile-on effect.” In the Pit, particularly, folks may be quick to note the lapses in judgement of another poster, but in many cases they’re also quick to post their appreciation and support when the poster acknowledges a wrong and works to correct it.

Some months back, there was a thread started by a poster whose name I don’t remember. At any rate, this poster had completely bought into some weird conspiracy theory about 9/11, and argued the point(s) for about a day. (Something to the effect that the Bush family was profiting financially by 9/11, and had done some of the planning, or some such.) Once other posters provided links with contradictory information, the OP recanted his argument and apologized. And a number of folks posted their appreciation of his willingness to look at other points of view.

So there’s still an opening in cancer research, right?

some points:

  1. Lib, This was never a pile on. When it comes to discussions of rules that affect us all, there can be no such thing as a pile on. Would you call all the people rushing in to tell Tuba she did the right thing a “Pile on”?

  2. Tuba, that was very big of you. I look forward to reading the FAQ. I hope that the problems you are currently experiencing are only temporary ones and that you can overcome them.

  3. Hamadryad, I doubt that this was the right time or place for that sentiment, but I hope you dont get flamed for expressing it.
