My fiancé works in the financial industry and got laid off last December after many of his company’s largest clients (Lehman Bros., etc.) went belly-up. For the next ten months, he sent out hundreds of resumes and job applications and went on at least a dozen interviews. His parents and mine kept telling him he should just settle for any old job he could get in this economy, even if he hated it and it paid a lot less than he had been earning. But he persisted in pursuing the position he wanted at companies in his field, and last week it finally paid off!
He started yesterday, and the job is exactly what he was looking for. It’s a small office where he knows the President and CEO, and even the family that runs the cafeteria. He came home yesterday beaming about how great his new co-workers are, how much of what he’s doing is familiar from previous jobs, and how excited he is to be in a position that asks him to do what he’s good at. I haven’t seen him this thoroughly happy in two years.
I may finally embarrass him into posting, or not, but I need to share our celebration and how proud I am of him. :D:D:D:D:D
Anybody else have a celebration to share?
