Conservatives hate Spock

I’m pretty conservative / lbertarian, and I have the same Trek / Spock affection! Love the series, love (some of) the movies.

BTW, I know this is a silly topic, but it is kind of funny seeing people use straw men and non sequiturs to illustrate why their political opponents break out in hives any time something hints of logic.

Logic, like facts, is not a matter of opinion. A hypothesis is logically true or it is not. The people who think a snowball is proof that anthropogenic global warming is false are not operating from a logical process, regardless of what they claim. If they go on to say that agw is clearly false because the bible said so, then they have taken logic out back and stomped it in the head.

That’s very true. And liberals who think that all conservatives are bible-thumping religious nuts are also being illogical.

Logic only gets you from A to B. It cannot kick things off. If two different people start with very different premises and assumptions, both can apply correct logic, yet still come up with vastly different conclusions.

All Liberals don’t think that. But you have to admit, the percentage of Bible-thumpers is greater on the Conservative side.

You wouldn’t happen to have a cite for this claim, would you? 'Cause it sounds like something you just made up.

Never mind that whatever hate Air America did manage to generate apparently didn’t resonate with enough people to keep it from going off the air.

You mean this novel?

The Assassination of George W. Bush: A Love Story

The novel that that achieved such popularity -

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #9,208,444 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

  • that it ranks only about 900,000 behind such noted bestsellers as

Comprehensive Review of Self Ligation in Orthodontics

Surely, you don’t mean this movie -

Death of a President (2006 film)

  • which was produced in England, and was so wildly popular among liberals that its box office receipts totaled nearly half of what it cost to make?

Budget $2,000,000[1]
Box office $869,352[2]

Because, you know, if those are your best examples, then liberals are sorely in need remedial lessons in blind hatred.

I wonder what it would cost to hire a conservative tutor?

In it’s defense, that’s a damn good book, probably one of the best books on self litigation in orthodontics that has been written in the past decade.

So … how do we get Obama to come out in favor of air?

For science, of course.

There are conservatives who try to push the “both sides do it” cliche because they want to seem less wrong about their made-up beliefs. There are also liberals who try too hard to be accommodating, thinking, perhaps rightly or wrongly, that the best way to influence people to your side is to hold a neutral and moderate view. The first is wrong because its not factual, and the latter is wrong because it elevates well-meaning to the status of fact.

As of right now, there is absolutely no equivalence. Conservatives are wrong, they are illogical, they are not factual, they are against reason, science, and reality. It doesn’t really matter what people think being fair is, fair is not purposefully being wrong. As conservatives like the esteemed Orly Taitz have confessed, they are against facts and reason. Pointing that out shouldn’t be the negative some people portray it as.

I personally think a lot of this is based on an illogical fear that when someone does it to you, you might not be able to reject their accusation of bias with a claim that you’re fair to both sides. You’d have to actually use your brain and think about an actual reasoned response instead of being lazy and claiming a cliche. And if you don’t have the brainpower to do that, well, that scares some people.

Facts are facts because they are REAL. It doesn’t matter if a liberal says it or a conservative says it, global warming is proven fact. Evolution is proven fact. That Obama was born in America and is qualified to be president is a proven fact. Conservatives are wrong. Liberals did not hate GWB with the same intensity and numbers that conservatives hate Obama, this new maliciousness towards our first black president IS rooted in conservatives being actually bad people, racist, xenophobic, and easily fooled by charlatans telling them what they want to hear. God forbid that we tell people not to hate a fictional character because Obama praised the quality of the actor portraying him or the written qualities of an alien in a non-existent universe written when he was a baby.

There’s no need to be that generous towards conservatives who make those kinds of errors in judgement. They are WRONG. It doesn’t matter if they claim you’re wrong, they actually are. There are ways to prove facts that have pulled humanity out of using leeches and lancing and to antibiotics and CAT scanners. These are not things invented because they gave leech growers the time of day, they were made because they WORK.

Reality, it does seem, has a liberal bias
