Considerations re: trying marijuana again after many years, what are the issues?

420 is slang for marijuana.

I have a tattoo of a Rolex watch around my left wrist. It has been there ~30 years. When people ask me what time the watch is set at and I tell them 4:20 they either laugh/high five me or they say something like, “hey, almost 5, time to leave work!”

When a customs dude was interviewing me on my return from international travel he asked what time my watch said. I told him it wasn’t a watch, but a tattoo representation of a timepiece. He told me it looked like it was 4:20, then he explained that he was just doing his job and had a sense of humor and liked my tattoo. I’m always nervous dealing with customs/police/etc.

I worked with a guy who had a watch tattoo where the watch was set to 4:19. It was a pocket watch image on his arm. At first I assumed it represented being almost 4:20 but found out later it was a reference to Philippians 4:19.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.? No thanks, I’ll go with 4:20.

Like booze, experience is important here. Once you figure out the dose you like, it can be a great party experience.

This is exactly my situation, except that the pain meds I’m prescribed (gabapentin and meloxicam) are really not that effective. I feel like different brands of edibles have different effects, but that may be my imagination. The difference between sativa and indica is, for me, negligible.

If I’m feeling more pain than usual during the day, I’ll take 2.5 mg every 4 hours or so; if it’s really bad I’ll go up to 5 mg. 10 mg will reliably put me to sleep in an hour to an hour and a half. For me, after a year of taking it, I can count on it taking effect in about an hour (a little less on a completely empty stomach, a little more on a full one).

The few times I’ve taken more than I intended or there was suddenly some task I had to do, it was a bit uncomfortable, but since I’m taking it only at home and it is all legal and above-board now, it didn’t tip into paranoia like it sometimes did when I was smoking it illegally with groups of people I might or might not know well. I definitely don’t drive stoned nowadays, not even on a very low dose.

Ah, very nice indeed! Thank you for a totally educating link!

This was popularized in High Times after my time in cannabis culture, or at least the great majority of it. No wonder I didn’t know. Although, the Waldos invented the term a couple years before I started.

I’m finding the best use in fighting pain from a spinal stenosis on top of all my arthritic joints is getting some sleep. That’s where edibles work best for me. Indica or sativa doesn’t matter for the edibles but indica works best for smoking and sleeping.
I think CBDs help, but not as reliably as I’d like. I think I’m developing some tolerance to the effects of CBDs. Perhaps the effect was more in my mind then in my body. I get a warning of more serious pain coming with pins and needle sensations in my arms and legs and I thought the CBDs were helping more at that point but maybe I just needed some hope for relief. I’m retired and I can just stop doing things when I’m hurting, but I can understand how there are so many opioid problems out there when people have no other way to mitigate the pain.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all. My gut feeling is that there is a serious lack of consistency and some brands are much more reputable. Unfortunately I can’t really give you a recommendation but a budtender may have good advice. If you find a brand you like, stick with it.

Meloxicam is what my doc prescribed. It works enough that I’m not in huge pain, but I was told to not take it regularly. If I’m in pain all the time, then, what? Rhetorical question. Edibles sound like a reasonable alternative.

Shameless Hall-narc holidays.

What do you guys think of a “Cannabis Cafe” thread, for all things weed? What forum would be best?

At any rate, who’s heard of, or owns, a “Hey abby”? it’s a self-contained hydroponic grow system which, if the hype is close to true, would easily pay for itself. I’m on the fence, waiting for more reviews.
