Louisiana prisons are holding prisoners past their release dates and don’t care.
Isn’t that kidnapping? Of course, Louisiana will have to investigate itself, and I am sure they will find themselves innocent.
The Tyre Nichols story is going to blow up big today with the release of the video. It is going to be hard to watch.
i don’t know if i will watch this. the police chief said it was as bad or worse than rodney king.
Given that Rodney King asked “can’t we all just get along” some considerable while after the event, I would say the Tyre Nichols thing was worse. For him, anyway. But at least he is no longer suffering.
Florida sheriff who ran a weekly wheel of fugitives is sued for using the name and picture of a person who wasn’t a fugitive.
…that a sheriff in America ran a “weekly wheel of fugitives” plastered on a giant spinning wheel, all to a soundtrack of rock music" and its only making the news because some of the people on the wheel were probably innocent just goes to demonstrate how unserious of a country America is.
This is comical. Ridiculous. This is dystopian nightmare stuff. Twenty minutes into the future Max Headroom fuel. It’s Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in the Running Man.
Y’all got broken brains. He’s been doing this since at least 2016? How the hell does this happen?
Florida. Republicans. The usual.
The fact that your country has elected law enforcement has a lot to do with it. I’m all in favor of democracy, but the whole concept of sheriffs is ridiculous.
…not my country.
That doesn’t give the rest of the country a pass. They may not be “spinning wheel, all to a soundtrack of rock music.” But in New York the police have just gone over budget on overtime, by over 400 million dollars (on a budget of 410 million!) largely because the police have gamed the system and arrest people at the end of their shift so that their shift runs overtime. In LA many police belong to their own gangs. The dystopia in Florida is just a slightly different type of dystopia.
The video is out. It is very long. I’ve only seen the end of it, where the medical attention is not being given. The amount of time passing is unbelievable.
This is horrific.
Two members of the Memphis Fire Department were relieved of duty for their failure to act.
That is not LAPD, though, but LASD, which is comprised of two rival gangs with their own tattoos and stuff. Oddly, no duly elected county sheriff has ever done anything to address that.
Meanwhile “liberal” Seattle has fired several officers for being in the January 6th mob. The rot in LE is pervasive and can only be dealt with by totally changing the cultural ethos across the country to some form of “justice” that does not need to be in quotes.
…I mean, only in America would that distinction even be considered important. Its still utterly bonkers. The entire thing. Everything. Bonkers.
I’m not even sure horrific is enough to describe it. It’s like these cops have never been trained to detain someone.
I really like how they have him on the ground, beating the shit out of him, and then decide to use pepper spray to make him docile. Only problem is, if you get pepper sprayed your instinct is to get as far away from it as possible because it hurts and you can’t see shit. Kind of like the cop in the video that accidentally gets sprayed and then runs out on the street holding his eyes and swearing like a motherfucker.
Finally, if a bunch of you are kicking the shit out of one guy and he starts calling for his mom, maybe step back a bit and re-evaluate what you are doing. Adult men don’t usually cry out for their mothers unless something is really fucked up and they think they are dying. Just like this case.
I don’t think the intention was to detain him. It appears the intention was to beat him to death, as he did not respect their authority.
I think that the intent was to beat him mostly to death. That they actually killed him is where they messed up.
Does anyone really think that this was the first time they had done this to anyone?
All of the Republicans responding racistly with “Ashli Babbit was white, but Tyre was Black, so why are they being treated differently?”
I remember back when BLM was starting to get really big and they’d often have protests after a Black Person was murdered. Someone made a similar comment, to which they replied that if you want to protest a white murder victim you can.
The only reason [white person]'s murder doesn’t have any protesters is because you didn’t organize a protest.
I think so too. Way too slowly, but coverups are becoming less feasible once video is released publicly. Bodycams need to be mandatory everywhere.
Not a chance. The neighborhoods that they were supposed to be protecting were already scared of them after just a couple months. Too much power, not enough oversight. Reading officer reports and nothing else to make your decision is not oversight.
Let’s see…One was actively breaking into a federal building to overthrow an election along with hundreds of others. The other was getting the shit kicked out of them by a bunch of cops for no reason and asking for his mom. Close enough if you are a Maga.
