Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread #2

His “concern” is that they were caught and filmed. Time to put a stop to THAT.

The presumption of guilt and danger by the cops is ridiculous. When they see black kids, they assume criminality. And, they were ready to kill them – they had their weapons locked and loaded, carefully aiming at those kids.

You never know what a few black teens with their hands up could do from 50 feet away! Maybe they have Flash-like powers! Better be aimed and ready to shoot.

Police in Aurora, Colorado, ordered a black woman and her children out of her car and onto the ground at gunpoint on suspicion that her vehicle was stolen.

She was driving an SUV; the vehicle they were actually looking for was a motorcycle.

Turns out the woman’s SUV has Colorado plates with the same license plate number as the out-of-state plates on the motorcycle, and cops relied on their license plate scanner. The police chief “blames the license plate reader but could not explain why the dozens of officers who responded did not confirm the vehicle description.”

Police officer fires gun and wounds man after accidentally being hit by deputy’s Taser

Officer A tries to taze the suspect and misses, hitting officer B.
Officer B fires his gun accidentally and hits the suspect.

This means Officer B could easily have hit Officer A. This is very, very bad. There’s no way he should have been in a position where he was pointing his gun toward another officer.

I can easily buy the explanation that being hit by a tazer caused him to fire accidentally. The error was being in a position where that could happen.

Yeah, it was a circle jerk in a literal sense.

Psst, see post 70

Meh, that was bullshit enough to merit two mentions.

Maybe @mhendo thought the first one looked like a motorcycle.

Crap! I know this thread moves pretty fast, so I usually check the dates on the stories and do a search, but I forgot with this one.

More on the 3 teens who were held at gunpoint by the police for being held at knifepoint by a crazy person (how dare they?!?) :

To be fair, the video shows several cops talking to the guy and trying to de-escalate. The guy seems intent on a physical altercation.

Yeah, then they tased the wrong guy and shot accidentally, but…ya know…baby steps.

I’ve checked a couple articles, and all it ever says is “suspect.”

Suspect for what? What crime was the “suspect”, as that is all he is ever identified as, suspected of, and what cause did they have to stop him?

If he’s minding his own business, then the cop’s presence is what escalates things, and the only way for them to deescalate is for them to leave.

I did not see any sign that he was intent on fighting the cops. I only saw that he was terrified and ready to try running from them. Knowing how bad an idea that is tells me how scared he was.

ETA: found one (Fox News, sorry.)

Too late to edit further.

Reckless driving is a rather subjective charge. Would like to see what the particulars are.

Non-compliant could just be him not agreeing with the cop’s assessment of his driving.

Felony arrest…of an 8 year old.

Well, at least the kid wasn’t black, I guess. “The officer was following the correct procedure” and the family responds, yeah, that’s the problem, and that’s what this lawsuit is going to change.

Everett protestor arrested for dangling a donut on a string

Full story: Cop pushes an 18-year-old for dangling a donut on a string. Now, the teen is arrested for assault.

They really wanted that doughnut.

IF YOU CAN’T SHOOT 'EM, INFECT 'EM

In Marion County Florida Sherriff Billy Woods is prohibited his deputies from wearing masks at work, and also prohibiting visitors from wearing them.

MSN

“Deputies working special events are also forbidden from wearing masks, Woods said.” You know-crowd control at large gatherings.

“non compliant” is generally a catch all for “Perp failed to respec’ mah authoritay!”
