Convenience Stores

I did my usual 5 hour drive from my mom’s house to mine last night. Before I got on I-80, I knew I would have to stop for coffee & cigarettes. So, I thought, where should I stop?

I can go to 7-11 or Quick-Check, Krauszer’s or Wawa.

Then my mind kept going…How many other convenience stores can you name? Seeing as they tend to be regional, most of mine are NY/NJ/PA based. I came up with:

Unimart
Sheetz
Circle K
Cumberland Farms

It’s times like this I wonder if MPSIMS is detrimental to my overall thinking process. Either that or too many drugs.

Keep 'em coming…

Alcohol and calculus don’t mix. Never drink and derive.

Some of the ones in my area (central MA):

Dairy Mart
Honey Farms
Store 24

TMR
If you believed in yourself, and tore enough holes
in your pants, there was always a mist-filled alley
right around the corner.

As long as the attendant speaks English I will stop there. It really pisses me off when you go to ask a question and they don’t know what you are saying and can’t answer.
Around here there are:

gas station marts
corner-stops (it’s a business’ name)
Grocery Boy Jr.
I miss:

7-11
Quick Stop

The Turtle Moves

a couple near me (in SE PA):
Turkey Hill
Landhope Farms

“I am so smart, I am so smart, s-m-r-t, i mean s-m-a-r-t”

I wonder this all the time… Especially since i finally had the infamous “Board Dream”. Yep, I was actually reading and replying to posts in my dream. Strange.

I think 7-11 and Circle K are pretty much universal now in the states. The only others I can think of are:
Quickie Mart(always liked the name of that one)
Stop-N-Go
AM/PM Mini-Mart(in association w/ the gas station)

I have chainmail underwear.

Here in Columbus, OH - United Dairy Farmers (UDF).

Utotem
Get-n-go
Casey’s
Hmmmm… can I think of any other known but odd ones…

In Leadville, CO there’s a convenience store called “Kum n’ Go.” I can’t even drive through that town without laughing my ass off…

Here is SE Iowa we have:

Home Oil Short Stop
Kum & Go
Jet Stop
Quick Trip (in larger towns like Iowa City)

No 7-11’s in Houston. Used to be, but the competition must have been too fierce.
Here’s a couple

Citgo
Diamond Shamrock-which owns Stop-n-Go

I thought the 7-11 franchise was out of Texas (Dallas?)… I figured Southland Corp. would infest the countryside like Starbucks or something…

-From the Brother Jed flyer-

There are no 7-11’s here in North Carolina, and I miss them! Circle K’s, which proliferate the landscape, blow. 7-11 has better food, better stuff, and in general was a lot cooler. You never know how much you miss a convenience store until it’s gone… :frowning:

I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
One week, one day, 20 hours, 2 minutes and 3 seconds.
353 cigarettes not smoked, saving $44.17.
Life saved: 1 day, 5 hours, 25 minutes.

Here in Canada we have 7-11 . Canadian convenience stores include Mac’s and Becker’s, which started out as milk stores.

White Hen Pantry

Quik-Trip
Git-N-Go
Stax (out of business, AFAIK)
U-Totem (out of business for years, I think)
Star Mart (affiliated with Texaco)
Love’s (only found near interstates)
Gas-N-Go

Here in Lubbock, all the convenience stores seem to be Friends.

New Mexico used to have 7-11s, but I think Allsups bought them all out.

Here in Amarillo, Texas, we have NO 7-11’s but a plethora of (often roach-infested) Toot’N’Totums. Outside Amarillo, you can get a decent chimichanga at Allsup’s, but for the love of God, do NOT go into the restroom. One time, I actually had a toilet shoot water out at me at eye level when I attempted to flush it. There is never any toilet paper, unless you count the soiled mounds of refuse growing fungus in the corners. I sure miss the White Hens of my Yankee days.

We don’t have Dunkin’ Donuts, either, just Donut Stops, where the donuts are irregular and greasy and the store reeks of bleach. sigh

Richdale
Lil’ Peach
former Christy’s (now 7-11)
A+ minimart
Stewart’s Shops
Pump N’ Pantry

All of them are in Eastern MA, and Upstate NY (Albany area)

Ah! For once I have content that others have not yet mentioned.

In the Pacific Northwest, Plaid Pantry seems to be the basic unit of convenience-store.

Ugly sign, too…
