Converting Windows Media to DVD or VCD

I have some training videos in WMV format that I would like to burn as either VCD or DVD so that they can be played on a DVD player. I found many programs that will do that, but the trick is I also have subtitles included in a separate file with the same name, but an SMI extension. (e.g. video.wmv and video.smi) When Windows Media Player plays these videos, the subtitles are automatically avaiable as an option. Is there any program that can include them on the VCD or DVD? They wouldn’t have to be optional there.

Shoot, the Straight Dope has let me down. Well, if no one has an answer, can you at least point me to somewhere else I might ask the question?

I’m sorry you could not find help here… personally I come to the SD to find general help and to hear from voices around the globe, etc.

Kind of like a Jack of All Trades Message Board, but Master of None…

Try www.videohelp.com, or Google for your specific problem to find boards that cater to just A/V stuff.

I’m into computers and programming, so of course I don’t spend all my waking hours on this board… I go to other boards to scratch those itches.

Good luck!
