Pretty much same-same. I call it “Bachelor Chow.” Mine starts with chili mac and mutates depending on what’s in the fridge.
Deconstructed walnut fudge: cup of walnut halves, cup of chocolate chips. Eat a little of each, a bit of nuts, a bit of chips, together. You have to set a limit, do not bring out a whole bag of each. (one time I tried this at night and was shovelling chocolate chips into my mouth like it was my last day on earth. The next morning I woke up with the WORST migraine headache from the chocolate that I have ever experienced in my life. I only wished it was my last day on earth for the next 12 hours.)
In South Africa, those things are known as snackwiches (probably a genericized trademark). It’s a good name for them, IMO.
Jaffles, on the other hand, should be round. And filled with baked beans.
I have independently re-invented* canned-tuna-grated-carrot-and-teriyaki-sauce bao, which while not exactly quick to make initially (there’s some raising time involved) are easily frozen and nuked. Mmmm, bao
*as in, I came up with the recipe myself, but I’m sure i can’t be the first?
Finger S’mores
(no snickering)
Golden Grahams cereal
Semi-sweet chocolate baking chips
Mini marshmallows
“Scrambled Amœba”. This was my favourite meal when I was a kid.
Three simple steps to culinary heaven:
Make mashed potatoes. Make hamburger hash. Mix well on the plate.
Looks odd, tastes great!
Going back to when I was a kid, I’d usually cook this for myself friday night before playing football (Aussie Rules) on Saturday. Based on stuff usually always in the fridge, freezer and pantry.
2 slices of bread, toasted.
2 burger patties, cooked and placed on the toast (1 on each)
1 can of baked beans, heated, tipped over the burgers on toast.
1 fried egg, sunny side up on top of the beans.
Add Worcestershire sauce and eat.
My one handed breakfast when I needed some packing in the stomach and had no time to get fancy
2 slices of bread, 2 slices of cheese, squish together in hand into something resembling a pulpy bready sausage. Eat while running out of the house when you’re late
Mince and tatties.
Didn’t feel like typing it out again, so I searched for my previous post in another thread to copy/paste here:
I do something similar with instant oatmeal, but in a bowl. Just add water as usual, but also add an egg and mix well. Microwave until it’s just started to thicken and rise, but is still somewhat liquid, then add whatever extra ingredients/toppings/sweeteners float your boat and stir them in. Then microwave a little bit longer until it rises/thickens some more, but don’t over do it. Once done, some of the rising will deflate but it will continue to thicken a bit.
It’ll take some trial and error to get it to your preferred consistency. I like it when it’s a similar texture and moisture as meatloaf, but you could go in either direction for something more like pudding, or something more like cake. Depending on the strength of your microwave, the difference between the two could be as little as 30 seconds, so it’s always best to undershoot, since you can always pop it in for a bit longer if you want it more solidified.
I know some of you are going “eww” but it’s actually pretty yum!
<End copy/paste>
^Yeah, I pretty consistently get the “eww” reaction from people I tell/show this because they’re dubious about the egg being sufficiently cooked in a microwave. But the “recipe” is pretty foolproof in that regard, because it’s the egg that causes the rising effect, and for it to do that, it’s getting plenty hot for plenty long enough. I’d be more worried about eggs not being “cooked enough” in the typical serving of scrambled eggs, not to mention eggs fried sunny-side-up or over-easy.
^^ P.S. And it’s a really quick, easy breakfast meal for when you want/need protein and fat in addition to the usual carbs and fiber of the other typical quick and easy breakfast choices.
Toast two slices of bread, add pre-shredded cheese to one, top with other, nuke 10 seconds, instant grilled cheese sandwich.
My dad would take a banana, mash it up with mayo and eat it with white bread. I would leave the house rather than see him eat that.
He also like to put black pepper on a slice of velveeta and eat that with, you guessed it, white bread. That actually wasn’t bad. If you like velveeta.
I like to eat leftover indian food in tortillas. Sort of a masala-buritto. And another who likes to make naan pizzas, flatbread snacks, or wraps. Is it sort of wrong that I had sliced roast beef on naan last night?
Bacon, cheese and blackberry jam croissants. It’s like every one of the ingredients is arguing to pair up with each of the others.
This is pretty simple but… Peanut butter rollups. Take a fajita or soft taco size flour tortilla, spread some peanut butter on, and roll it up. It’s like a peanut butter sandwich but I like it better because there’s less bread. I will sometimes drizzle some honey onto the PB before rolling up, but you gotta be careful or the honey will ooze and drip all over while you’re eating.
And those people with grilled-cheese sandwiches? I didn’t like cheese, so Mom made grilled-peanut-butter sandwiches for me.
