Cooking anything nifty for the holidays?

My agenda so far includes:
Blueberry oat muffins–lots of these for gifts, along with…
Lemon curd! I’m so excited. I’ve never made it before, but I LOVE lemon curd. And while I have all these lemons around, may as well make…
Shaker Lemon Pie! Almost my favorite pie ever, although a little more worky than my usual rhubarb.
I’m considering a Cranberry Upside Down Cake too, but not entirely sure yet. I don’t really need it, but I’ve got cranberries in the freezer, so we’ll see.

Also, white chocolate pretzels for the kids’ make-a-mess project, and homemade Irish cream for the supervising adults.

I’m making truffles for the first time in at least 3-4 years. The pros? It means I’m feeling less stressed than I have been for a while, and I actually have time to do it. Cons? I wrote down NONE of the recipes I spent years developing and am starting fresh from cookbook/online recipes! I should pit myself for that. This year’s list is rum/honey, raspberry(maybe with orange), cappuccino, and coconut. I think.

A few months ago I read this recipe on a cooking blog for an apple pie with caramel poured over the top before baking and I promised my daughter I’d try it for Christmas. We’ll have our traditional pumpkin in case it doesn’t turn out

My husband wants roast duck. My daughter also likes duck, so I imagine that the two of them will have it. I’ll roast a ham steak. My husband and daughter don’t particularly care for ham. We’ll probably have sweet potatoes and I’m going to try those roasted brussels sprouts that I keep reading about.

I found a recipe for a whisky caramel BACON marshmallow chocolate bark that I’m going to make tonight or tomorrow. Will report back, if I’m able.

I’m taking a stab at doing one of Alton Brown’s mustard-bourbon-brown sugar-gingersnap crusted hams.

I made two batches of lemon curd. So easy! So much cheaper than buying it! The first batch was perfect. The second batch was well on its way to being plain “curd” until I realized rather late in the process that I’d forgotten the lemon juice. But I added it and all is well. I’m taking a break and then I’m going to make more, and also put together the dry ingredients for the muffins.
All the goodies upthread sound so…well, good!

We’re back to basics this year. Three years ago I cooked duck, and it turns out that none of us like duck as much as we imagined. Two years ago I cooked an English Christmas dinner with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, yada yada yada. Last year I did a Moroccan feast. It looked great but because I’m not conversant with Moroccan cooking, didn’t taste quite right.

Back to turkey with cornbread stuffing this year. And we always have cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

I just made some homemade Irish cream. And now I’m nnot going to make anything epse, because I have to make sure that the second or thrid serving is as good as the first. This stuff is GOOOOOOD.

I’ve been invited to an appetizer xmas eve party so I’m making pork rillettes and shrimp shumai.
