Check out this cool interactive graphic. This shows how Americans spend their time.
On the right side you can isolate different groups to see how they are spending their day.
There sure is a lot of TV and movie watching going on.

There’s a smaller percentage (2%) of people who work from midnight to 8 AM than I would have guessed (I would have guessed maybe 5%).
Interesting graphic – thanks for sharing!
That sure looks like a structural cross section with a couple of normal faults. Hey… in a way I guess it is.
Gordon, most surveys would be conducted during “normal” hours, so people who work nights and slept days (presumably with the phone turned off) might be under-represented.
Wow, apparently I don’t spend my time in a normal fashion, at all. For starters my computer use is literally off the chart. None of the demographics here come anywhere close to how much time I spend on the internet. I suspect this is because most people get their recreational computer time in during work, and the nature of my work precludes this despite being in the Advanced educational category.
I also don’t usually start work until closer to lunchtime, unlike most of my age and degree cohort, nor do I fall asleep or rise at the same time as they do. My TV and Movies section would be a thin invisible red line (save the occasional weekends where that’s all I do with a couple of friends). My household activities section would be similarly thin. I could go on.
I mean, I always knew I was weird, but daaaaaamn. I can’t find a single thing about my schedule that actually matches this graph.
