I just got back from Las Vegas a couple days ago. The Strip is so over-the-top ridiculous and ostentatious one can’t help but love it. I spent a few hours on Saturday night just walking up and down Las Vegas Blvd. taking photos. I ended up taking around 300 pics, but most of them were too blurry because I was trying long exposures at night and didn’t think to bring a tripod. (Oops.) Anyhoo, I put the good ones up on Flickr here.

Mirage lagoon
Brooklyn Bridge (I never realized they had ads for Las Vegas shows on that thing!)
New York New York (This shot’s terrible loneliness was a complete accident. I just happened to snap it while there was a lull in the people there.)
Tropicana Ave. and the MGM Grand
The Excalibur
Circus Circus (Probably my favorite of the set.)

Also, the rides on top of The Stratosphere are a lot of fun. A bit of a rip-off, though. Next time I’m out there I’m going to do the thing where you jump off the top of it attached to a rope. (You have to sign up in advance, apparently.)

friedo, as a Las Vegas resident, I am duly impressed!
I especially like the Tropicana/MGM Grand photo - that really captures the mood and color and movement!

That was one of the ones where I could get a really good long exposure, because I was able to rest my lens on a part of the fence on the pedestrian walkway over Tropicana Ave. Even so it’s still a little shaky; you can see it in the MGM Grand logo which is a bit washed out due to camera movement.

I’m glad you like them.
