Cool things that you know if you're ... uh ... cool?

(Okay, it seems that it’s still okay to use the word “cool”. If not, please let me know what’s better.)

So, if you’re cool, what cool things do you know about:
Music, movies, videos?
Trends, ideas, neologisms?
Websites, technology, gadgets?
Games, toys, pastimes?
Fashion, style, grooming?
Any other area?

And, there must be some stuff that’s “so cool” that it’s in its own category.
(Also, I’m guessing that there’s stuff that’s so “not cool” that it’s cool.)

This lady is cool. She’s like a rainbow!

The “Hitler-stache” is going to be totally hott this summer. Impress your friends by being the first person in your social group to grow one! :smiley:

Also, mini dresses are coming back. Why not combine the two for a fashion Xplosion!?

Anyone who offers a unique perspective on a previously mundane topic I think is cool.

Knowing how to make explosives out of everyday household items usually makes for a cool conversation and person.

I think anyone who gives me money is cool.

If you want to be cool, let me know. I take Paypal.

Cool is knowing the best way to restart someone’s heart.

Way cool is if you’ve actually done this.

Japanese hip hop
Avant-garde action figures
Designer soap
Techno-hippies

Yawn - Try Japanese go-go (& I’m not giving any of you eight-balls a link). A genre of music only practiced in Washington, DC, North Carolina, and Tokyo is the definition of cool.

They’re better known as “Vinyl Toys”.

I totally knew about Lush before they dragged it over here. I lived right behind one in Florence.

Wow, pizzabrat! You’re very cool!

  1. Never let on how much you like a girl;
  2. Always call the shots;
  3. Act like wherever you are, that’s the place to be;
  4. When ordering food, find out what she wants and order for both of you (it’s a classy move);
  5. Whenever possible, when making out, put on side one of “Led Zeppelin IV.”

Mm-hmm. :cool: (ignore the smile)

Depends on where you want to be “cool”… when in Rome and all that.

If you want to appear “cool” to the “conformist” or “mainstream” people:

Your music, movies, etc. will be fed to you by the media, and/or 80s music, plus you’re allowed a few quirks of personal taste as long as when anybody disagrees you switch it.

Sports; in college talking about majors, possibly career aspirations (but don’t get too carried away)

Tech and gadgets… certain people, I certainly wouldn’t recommend whipping out a phone or PDA you just got and expecting “people” to think it was cool.

Among males, video game discussion is occasionally permissible, otherwise, the only games that are cool (besides sports) are drinking games.

Fashion is very dependant on the crowd but: DON’T wear Jean shorts (Jorts) as a guy.

Now, if you want to be cool in any other sense but mainstream:

Ignore everything above and do what you want to do and you’ll find a crowd that you’re cool in. That probably works better in the long run.

Only if you’re MacGuyver. For everyone else it makes you look like a psycho. Unwanted attention from the ATF isn’t cool.
I’m more “awesome” than “cool”, but I’ll give it a shot:
Music, movies, videos?
Having good taste in these things is cool.
Being a movie or music snob is not cool.
A geekish devotion to a particular genre or film is also not cool.

Trends, ideas, neologisms?
Following trends is not cool. Incorporating elements of trends seamlessly into your lifestyle is cool.

Websites, technology, gadgets?
Gadgets are cool. Owning gadgets does not make you cool.

Games, toys, pastimes?
Anything involving sports, drinking, music or the opposite sex is cool. Acting like you are cool because you do these things makes you uncool. (ie it’s cool to sleep with a lot of women. If you talk about women you slept with, picking up women, or how hot that girls ass is, you are a douchbag)

Fashion, style, grooming?
The trick is to look good without looking like you thought about it all that much.

Any other area?
Career
The more successful you are while maintaining your own individuality, the cooler you are.
Leading is cooler than following

Car
Your car should fit your personality. If you drive a car that looks too cool for you, it looks like you’re trying too hard which isn’t cool.

Asskicking
Giving someone an asskicking who truly deserves it is cool
Basically, the general theme is that you want to “be” cool, not “act” cool. You do thinks because that’s the way it’s supposed to be done, not because it’s the trend. Cool people don’t try and they don’t need to prove how cool they are. They just “do” and people automatically know.
