Cool World Series opening!

Okay, as a lifelong Southerner and Dodger fan, this World Series holds absolutely no interest to me. I do love baseball, however and I usually at least have the game on. Did anyone see the opening ceremonies? Slightly corny but very cool nonetheless. The Navy color guard marched to the middle of the field, they observed a moment of silence for the USS Cole and the victims of the bombing. Billy Joel then sang the national anthem (looking just like Richard Hatch from Survivor, might I add) while a bald eagle (or ergle as the Yankee’s announcer said) named “Challenger” flew from center field to the pitcher’s mound.
Whew! I’m spent.

I have to say it’s a great night to be a NY’er. The weather is very mild so people have their TV’s run out onto their front stoops. Lots of fireworks, lots of yelling, lots of beer.

Heh, I’m a Dodger fan too
There are plenty of them in NYC but we’ll never forgive them for leaving Brooklyn

I missed the opening, but I’m watching the game now. New York’s ahead!

Update: after the longest game in WS history, the Yankees finally won in extra innings thanks to a single by Jose Vizcaino.

Come on, people. You never walk the lead-off man in late-innings!!!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

[sub]As you can no doubt conclude, I’m rooting for the Mets.[/sub]

And gol-dangint, you’re supposed to run hard all the time. It ain’t a homer until the ump twirls his hand in the air!

AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
