GO ROYALS!
Strangest ending to a World Series I’ve ever seen.
I am a diehard Mets fan.
I tip my hat to the Royals. They were the better team. I will continue to root for the Mets, and am glad that they made it this far. I am also excited about the future of the Mets’ pitching staff.
Congratulations to the Royals, and the Mets will come back strong next year for sure!
I can’t recall the last time I saw a World Series performance so embarrassing as that provided by the Mets this year. I was pulling for Kansas City, but by the time tonight was over I felt a little sorry for the Mets and their fans.
I’m a Yankees fan, but was rooting for the Mets. It’s times like this I am so glad I am not a Mets fan. Congratulations to the Royals - they were just the better team. Their ability to come back was just phenomenal.
I haven’t been paying the slightest attention, but I heard a bunch of gunshots and checked the news.
Congratulations to Royals and fans.
Congratulations also to the Mets, the Blue Jays, and the Astros for good, fun seasons, and for bouncing all the teams that annoyed me in this tournament.
sigh
This was a series the Mets could have won – only Game 2 wasn’t close – but, yeah, the fundamental reason they didn’t is because Kansas City had a better team this year. GG.
KC Royals win the World Series! Not the greatest pitchers. No great home-run hitters. Just solid fielding, and a dogged determination to get a base hit somehow or other, trust your next teammate to find a way to advance you, don’t worry if you’re behind on the scoreboard, just keep those timely little hits a-comin’. There’s a lesson for all of us in there! Congrats especially to pitcher Ednison Volquez, who got the job done (nothing spectacular, just steady as she goes – and even hit a single!), twice, only days after his father passed away.
You should have seen the last game of the World Series in 1985 when Kansas City beat the St. Louis Cardinals in another “embarrassing” game.
Of course the big question is, should the Mets have pulled Harvey at the beginning of the 9th? He really had done a great job so far striking out more Royals and holding them scoreless. You cant blame them really although the announcers were saying his pitches were beginning to slow. And really that one play where Hosmer scored on a bad throw to the catcher could have won the game.
As I understand it the Mets coach wanted to but Harvey insisted he could finish it plus you heard all the fans.
And your right, where were the Royals home runs?
Congratulations to the KC Royals!
That was an incredible series they played. They kept at it, and at it, and they kept forcing the Mets to make a defensive play. Their aggressiveness on the base paths forced the action and dared the Mets to make an out. The Mets have a strong team and a good future, and the way they got to the Series was Amazing, but against these Royals they just made too many mistakes.
I’m an SF Giants fan who was wary of last year’s Royals, who came very close to winning. They were a strong team that got even stronger this year.
Congratulations to the Royals and their fans.
And that’s after the embarrassing Game 6 blown call.
Yeah, urbanredneck, that was a tough decision. Harvey’s pitching through so many innings was just phenomenal. And Mets relievers hadn’t been doing so well lately. I can’t fault the decision to leave Harvey in into the ninth, nor the decision to pull him a few pitches later.
Woo-hoo! I wish I could have stayed up until the end but I just couldn’t make it.
Another fail for MLB. Schoolkids won’t be talking about this for years because MLB insists on postseason games starting so late that they can’t watch them.
I don’t know how east coasters do it. So late at night. And good point Bob, the kids, they don’t see it because it’s so late.
It gets worse.
The Royals victory parade is tomorrow, Tuesday between 11 am and 1 pm downtown. So most kids would have to skip school for the one and only chance to see a World Series parade. And adults skip work. Why couldnt they have it at say 4:40? It will be a mob scene of cars so I dont think I will go.
Yeah, what happened to that tall Redneck pitcher SF Bumgarner who last season that kicked KC butt?
Well I’m sorry Mets but you need to score more than 2 runs in 12 innings. Especially when they have an advantage of their pitchers also being good hitters.
Not going to go back over the box scores for the entire season, but my impression of watching the Royals beat or get beat by various teams this season or post-season is that if you want to beat the Royals, jump out early and try to keep your foot on their neck in the late rally innings.
If there’s ever been a team you can’t afford to leave hanging around, it was the 2015 Royals.
“Always October”, even in November. Congratulations to the 2015 Royals.
