Copa America 2021, down to just four teams now

Looks like there’s been no thread for the Copa America.

Late to the party, but now there are only four teams, duking it out in the semis - Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Argentina. I’m hoping for an Argentina-Brazil final, and for Messi to finally get that international title.

I’ve been watching, and while I would love to see Messi win a major, I don’t see Brazil losing. Brazil simply doesn’t lose at home, except in spectacular fashion in World Cups. Casemiro has never lost a game when in the starting 11 for Brazil. If Messi somehow gets Argentina the Copa versus Brazil in the Final, it would surpass Ronaldo’s Euro win, IMHO, since Ronaldo played no part in the championship game.

Interesting lineup selection for Argentina. Aguero, Di Maria, Correa, Parades all on the bench. Also Muriel for Colombia.

I’d like to thank Messi for making me wait only four minutes to hear an announcer yell “gol”. I’ve missed that watching UEFA on ESPN.

And we have our Messi v. Neymar final. Riveting PK’s in both Semis today.

That was one of Neymar’s flashier games, if that’s possible. Never seen him so many times nutmegging his way through everyone, and his assist was quite the spectacle (with a lucky dribble-bounce along the way ).
I thought it was on the chippy side, but commend the refs for just letting it play on.

di Maria!!!

Fox Sports has completely crap picture quality. Univision/TUDN picture quality is far superior.

I thought he tore his Achilles on that 2nd breakaway. The acting is definitely getting better. Messi has been very quiet, but even as a lifelong Brazil fan, I want him to get this one. Neymar will get more of these.

Not for me. It’s great on Fox.

FS1? On my cable system it looks like a blurry analog picture while the Univision stations (not on any digital tier) are digital. Maybe there is a digital Fox channel I am unaware of.

Major SA leagues will be available for free on the new Prende streaming service.

Looking at that di Maria goal, I wonder what the world record is for longest “gollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll” by an announcer.

I love the physical nature of this game. Its really fun to watch.

Argentina surviving by the skin of their teeth.

Some Argentinian guy with bloody socks. This is fun. Im not really sure Argentina is holding on. Brazil really isnt creating much in the box.

Neymar disappoints yet again for both club and country.

Well, Messi can retire now. He got that international title, albeit in rather underwhelming fashion. (But he did play a big role in getting them to the final to begin with)

I’m here to officially and publicly eat crow, I never believed in this manager and he’s closed my mouth (as we say).
From now on I’m onboard “the scaloneta”.

I 100% agree with your sentiment. The match almost seemed like a pickup game. There wasnt the quality we have seen in the Euros.
