does anyone know where to obtain a wall size poster that has corel draw fonts on it? i sure could use one.
I’ve had an interest in fonts for almost ten years now, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any size poster of fonts from any application. I can’t think of any reason for Corel, for example, to produce such posters. Getting permission from each font’s owner to print the poster would be just one obstacle to this.
Still, there’s no reason you can’t make your own poster. First, of course, do you own the program (and have access to the fonts)?
If you do, you can make yourself a font character sample sheet. What I’d do is type out every single font character (holding down my Shift or Option keys-- I’m on a Mac), giving myself about four rows of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, punctuation symbols, and special characters. I’d then do this for all my fonts, in all the variations of each font. (Actually, I typed out all the characters once, copied it, and then pasted it in as many times as I needed it and then just changed the font for each. Saved a lot of time.) Then I printed this all out and put the printouts in sheet protectors and then into big binders. For poster size, you could just save them in a larger point size, like 60 or 72.
I just searched Google for CorelDraw fonts, and if the list I got is accurate, there are approximately seventeen billion fonts that come with the program. If there’s a large quantity of fonts, you may just want to type “This is a sample of the font XXXXXXX” and use font XXXXXXX for that sentence.
If, on the other hand, you don’t have access to CorelDraw, you might be out of luck.
font posters used to be the “norm” back in the seventies when typography literally exploded on the graphic scene, you found them in all art studios. many of them made by letraset.
i have been searching for about two years trying to find a corel poster. the corel book has all the fonts pictured, so if they can print them in their book they certainly could legally print a poster. i don’t need all of them but about 250 or so, of the leading ones would be great.
i have made myself small sample sheets just like you suggested. thanks for the response.
i have a wonderful html color poster from visibone hanging on my wall <http://html-color-codes.com/> somewhere there has to be a font poster.
