For many years, I remembered a line in 1984 that was about making school kids “memorize the corn production of Iowa.” (ie not making them study real material). Recently I went to quote it, and after skim rereading 1984, and searching a (possibly illegal) online version, I’m convinced it is not in there. Does anyone know where (if anywhere) this quote comes from? Am I going nuts?
