Coronavirus is going to make Americans EVEN MORE LONELY

Hardly anyone interacts with anyone anymore.

Racially, it may be even worse. It is like segregation never ended.

Well thought out OP.

Deep, it was. Enlightening too.

They told us at work today that we were strongly encouraged to work from home, but it’s not mandatory. I’ve decided I’m going to keep coming into the office. I love solitude but I get too much of it as it is.

Also, if I get sick I might have be in isolation for a long time. So I’m not eager to start self-quarantining myself before it’s even necessary.

Are you going to be like everyone else who works from home & work in your PJs even though you’re still going into the office?

As usual, Pornhub has you covered.

Well, has the Italians covered at any rate.

If I didn’t know better, I’d think you enjoy stoking racial tensions.

PJ’s would be a step up for me!

I interact with an order of magnitude more people on-line than I could ever hope to speak to in meatspace over the course of a day.

Where are you getting this information? I’m forced to interact with far more people than I want every single day.

When do you find the time to obsess over race relations in America then?

Eh, my only friends are my dogs. I’m gonna ride this out okay, but the Formula One cancellations are hitting me hard. I’ve not hardly missed a race in 40 years. But I guess I’m not ‘missing’ them if they ain’t running them.

C’mon, dogs. Let’s go for a Jeep ride.

BTW, how are the soviets doing with their own disaster?

Maybe the OP could start an AMA thread about it.

The voices in my head unanimously disagree. They’ve assured me that I’ll be fine.

Always listen to your voices - they’ll cure any loneliness. Especially if/when they direct you to run naked into a sheep-filled meadow. Mine haven’t insisted. Yet. But I’m ready.

I don’t enjoy stoking racial tensions, I am simply telling the truth. I am saying that this virus and the effects will cause a social breakdown like never seen before.

Everyone is in their own little bubble.

Just wait until Covid-20 comes along. Then we’ll all long for the good old days with Covid-19.

Some of us have always been in our own little bubbles, but no one noticed.

I’ve been talking with my friends all day via text, since no one is busy doing whatever it is busy people do.

I suspect social media use is on the rise (including boards like the SDMB and large forums like Reddit), which is good interaction for people who don’t have people to text with. I’m interacting with my friends (text, FB), neighbors (FB) and strangers (Reddit, and you strange people).
