Correct direction to place an avocado seed to root it?

I’d like to root an avocado seed I recently aquired after making some Guacamole. I have the rooter and the seed… Which side do I place up? One side with a little nipple type point, or the other rounded side? And ideas?

Should I simply use tooth picks and a cup?

Pointy end up.

Round side down – toothpicks and a jar work fine.

It makes absolutely no diffrence whatsoever. Seeds have evolvd to survive in the real world. In the real world seeds land any old way. The plant will respond o gravity and grow just fine no matter what way up it begins life.

Actually, the root tends to come out one end, and the stem the other. If it starts out wrong end up, the two shoots have to turn around and go past each other. This can weaken the plant. I’m not sure how big a problem this is with Avocado, but crook roots are a concern with Cherimoya.
