Coto Confirmed As ENT Co-Exec Producer - Trek Doper SPOILERS will no doubt abound

Coto is probably the reason for the early speculation concerning the ending of the Temporal Cold War series arc. Some spoilers have leaked out already concerning shows in preproduction stages Can he temper the wild reset button time travel ideas of Bergama? Time will tell.

I feel this Season IV of ENT will be a turning point for the Trek franchise. Either Coto will succeed in bringing it back around to a show that can be watched by millions and obsessed over by Trekkers, or it will be the last trek we see on TV for a long time.

Some would say the latter option should occur anyways, you are welcome to your opinion, but that discussion is not the main focus of this thread. Manny Coto is what I want to discuss. Can he make a difference while Bergama is still in power? Is he more in tune with “real” Star Trek than Berman and/or Bragga? What changes will he make being 1/3rd in charge?

Spoilers and informed opinions are welcome, as are WAGs, but please leave the Trek bashing to another thread this time, okay?

Oh, no. I don’t see any possibility of them using any more time-travel reset buttons. They’ve done such a wonderful job of following along in the timeline established as back-story for the other series, especially with the cliffhanger for the end of this last season.

:dubious:  :smack:

Hm. So it’s finally wholly legit. The only problem I have is that Berman says Braga is still around which is a bit disheartening but still, fresh blood is great. The last time they got some fresh bloos was when they brought in Behr for DS9 and it’s easily the most realistic of the shows with actual depth and character development.

If Coto is even half as good as Behr, we could get a truly great show. Let’s just hope the Friday night timeslot doesn’t kill it.

Friday worked well for X-Files. In fact, for some of us, it really messed up our regular Friday night fun when it went to Sundays. We would meet at each other’s homes, have some form of dinner, watch the agents, then talk about it the whole time we were playing pool or darts at whatever bar we ended up at. (Good grammar!)

TNG was syndicated, so there was never any real time slot. We watched it at 10:40pm Sundays here in the OKC.

Plus, with Tivo and VHS… well, I just hope the time slot is a minor factor myself.

Ending the Temporal Cold War is a huge plus for me. And that’s the biggest news that’s leaked out with the Manny Vision on board.

And that’s a very good thing. (poor Martha)

The X Files is the exception though. Other than it, ABC’s TGIF comedies, Joan of Arcadia and maybe a couple other shows, I can’t think of anything that’s ever thrived on Friday nights. I can, on the other hand, think of innumerable shows that withered, including the original Trek back in '69.

I’ll gladly watch and hope and pray but I just don’t think it will last.

Yeah, NBC Friday of 1968/9 really screwed over the first Trek. I’m just wondering if the TV viewing map hasn’t changed in the 35+ years since then. Maybe someone can link us to some numbers? But, my personal recollection matches Aes’.

Trekkers would watch it on any night, even if they had to record it. But, would Friday bring in the casual Trek fan? Or even new fans? Well, we’ll know in the future.

I honestly don’t have an idea one way or the other about how Manny Vision will work. Sure, I’ve seen the spoilers, read the insider stuff, but… How much real control will he have? Is he a junior partner? Do they even get along? How much time will Berman or Bragga really have, considering that they’re both working on bringing new (nontrek) projects into the light of day? Will Majel finally get a nod? So many questions. Incept dates, longevity projections…

I have a bad feeling that putting it head-to-head vs. Stargate:SG1 is going to cause Enterprise to suffer pretty badly.

I’ve been a pretty religious viewer of both shows during their entire runs, but given the choice, I’m going to watch Stargate.
