I got the “bitch smacks” too for the spoon. Mine was also red-I wanted blue. Damn.
But it’s still a kickass spoon. I won’t use it to eat with, though. No, precious, no.
Oh, and my mother sometimes makes RKTs with M&Ms. Once she made them with chocolate chips and the chips melted and they were sooooo good.
This thread reminded me of these cornflake/peanut bars they used to serve us for dessert at school. Those were like kiddie crack and if you didn’t like them, you could trade them for just about anything else you wanted. I need to find a recipe for those!
I’m a deviant, and proud of it! The Count Chocula ones were really good. And do you know how hard it is to find Count Chocula? The Kellogg’s RTKs are just nasty, especially the chocolate. Homemade deviations are much tastier!
I need to get some rice krispies, so I can try them with peanut butter. And chocolate chips. And peanut butter and chocolate chips. And butterscotch chips. Or maybe butterscotch chips and chocolate chips. Yum, yum!
(Er, sorry for that. Anyway, per the thread, one time someone gave me a job to make some RKTs. Well, they didn’t specify how they wanted them, so I put M&Ms, sprinkles, cinnamon, and powdered sugar on them. True to form, I got yelled at.)
Sorry, that’s a mistranslation from somebody who was trying a little too hard to keep the rhyme scheme. The circle of which you speak is for people who remove caffeine from coffee using any device other than their kidneys.
Or make mild cheddar cheese. I forget which.
Rice Krispies Treats are endlessly variable (but only if they’re homemade).
Made some this last weekend, in fact. Since peanuts kill my friend I substituted sunflower nut butter. Wasn’t the same as peanut butter but it wasn’t bad.
Oh I’ll allow the Count Chocula treats. They sound REALLY good and I’d like to try them myself if I can ever find some Count Chocula. I wonder why it’s so rare?
I’m just crusading for the sanctity of actual Rice Krispies treats. They’re so good in their pure form, any modification just diminishes them.
But Count Chocula is not Rice Krispies, so marshmallow treats made with it are not a corruption of Rice Krispies Treats.
[Homer Simpson]Mmmm…Chocolate and marshmallow[/HS]
So, all you rice crispie treat afficionados … I have a challenge. I like granola but I hate granola bars. Granola is crunchy and yummy, but granola bars remind me of dog biscuits, and they trumpet their healthfulness a little too emphatically. Can you do the rice krispies treat thing with granola and still have them come out sticky and sweet and not making me think I’m eating something that’s good for me? Has anyone tried?
Yep, although they can be pretty dense. Adding some rice crisp helps keep it not-so-dense. They even sell them in stores as “chewy Granola bars”.
Same thing: melt butter and marshmallows, throw in maybe three or four cups granola and make up the other two or three cups in rice crisp. These are definitely worth adding mini chocolate chips to.
Almost every year for Christmas we make wreath treats.
You take Corn Flakes, and do the RKT thing with the marshmallow & butter, adding green food coloring. You put them out in little round blobs, and before they dry all the way you stick a couple of red-hot candies on them for hollyberries.
I don’t know. When I had the idea to make them with Count Chocula, I couldn’t find it anywhere, and I thought they’d stopped making it. I found it at Target, at Halloween. It’s worth looking for, though. Just remember to make two batches–one’s just not enough!
Damn! If only my sister didn’t use it I could make a nice wad of cash. Although I suppose some might like it better that way - not a judgement on collectors as a whole, just the really creepy ones might enjoy saying they got to “spoon a girl.” :shudders:
Minus the penis, that pretty much sums up my existance.
I’m sure he isn’t. It’s obviously a Jedi Jim Crow thing. Evil guys get red lightsabers, and blacks get purple lightsabers, thus showing they are inferior to the good, white Jedi.
