At the end of the 3rd movie, we see Scott pretty much become his dad. However, it seems to me based on what he had to put up with that he could potentially be far greater than his father ever was. Its ironic that at first his father was pressuring him to be evil, then kind of gave up on his son in favor of mini-me (who, mind you, is pretty friggin scary), though at that point Scott was trying to reconcile with him and restore their relationship.
With all that’s gone on with Scott, he seems to have the makings of a much more genuine evil than Dr. Evil.
There is a short film someone made (the title escapes me at the moment) which showed Dr. Evil as a young man. It was a really funny short, it showed how he got his scar and everything. However, I think Scott still has the potential to be evilest Evil.
I think it depends on whether he goes to Evil Medical School (or indeed any Tertiary-Level Evil Education). Otherwise, he might have the innate evil talent, but lack the evil technical and theoretical expertise.
To be fair, even though Dr. Evil has his doctorate in evil, there have been numerous examples throughout history of dedicated amateurs doing a very credible job of being evil through sheer hard work and dedication. Take Hitler and Genghis Khan (please) as two excellent examples for Scott to follow.
Now, in terms of elaborate plans like the Gramm Parsons Project and such items of terror as 1950s style death rays (natch), Scott may be at a disadvantage without some sort of formal training and eduction in the evil arts.
So, to sum, his innate evilness gives him a leg up on the competition, but his ability to plan and implement megalomanical schemes may be limited without formal training from evil educational institutions such as Princeton or Berkely.
I don’t know exactly what they teach in evil medical school, but surely Scott would be better off attending an evil engineering class, evil computing school, or qualifying as an evil accountant. . There is so much more scope for widespread evil using more up to date evil methods.
Plus, he can turn into a werewolf, if need be (woops, wrong series).
The bad doctor would never give Scott the funding to attend a good evil school. Nor would Scott accept a handout.
Poor Scott’s choices may be limited to evil correspondence schools, where he can earn these degrees and many more:
Evil computer technician
Evil data entry
Evil nurse’s aide
Evil high school diploma
Evil private detective
Alternately, Scott might want to try a trade school and become an evil mechanic (actually, this market is suffering from a glut,) or evil hair stylist.
I used to waste my time in dead-end jobs and petty evil. Then I got my degree at the DeVile Institute of Evil, and I own my own orbital “laser” satellite! Thanks, DeVile!
I would think Evil Medical School (or any of the other evil institutions) would be more of a hindrance than anything else. I mean look at Doctor Evil, when have any of his evil plans really succeeded?
