I cleaned a closet and answered a bunch of backed-up emails. The rumors of my demise were circulating amongst my distant family. Now they know I’m still kicking. Aunt Penny still wants a stupid recipe I promised her 3 years ago. Nah. I didn’t send today either.
Really glad the Dopes back.
Well, since I pay to be a member and donate money beyond my subscription - yeah, I kind of do think that one might be owed. It wasn’t a horrible amount of downtime, I bet we’re still at 99% uptime, but it’d be nice to know what happened.
Who knows, it might be the kind of situation where if I threw more money at the problem, it might go away. Since I don’t know what happened, I don’t know if the answer is less money, more money, or if money is even part of the equation.
And now the word “money” has lost all meaning to me. Money money money money munny hunny bunny funny sunny money.
What an … odd … comment.
I had the same thought when I read it.
I kinda liked this “finding something to do today,” but I don’t intend to make a habit of it.
First, multiple mass murders… and now this?
I went to the long necked board to see if anyone there had a clue, but no luck. I did find out that they sometimes talk about me behind my back.
I’ll probably survive this discovery.
Anyway, welcome back! All of this work stuff was really getting on my nerves.
Well, you’re chocolate. Of course people talk about you!
I have been given to understand that the Zilch Coils required recharging, a reasonable explanation.
The hamsters formed a union and went on strike for more carrot.
Management folded like a cheap tent after 24 hours.
Hey, PTB I bought an old box at a flea market the other day. It’s full of those old school fuses like Grammy used in her old house. I’ll donate them. Send me an address.
Thanks for getting us back on line.
I actually thought the outage might be a way to cool people down over the gun control debate thread(s), but then I thought if the mods wanted something like that, they could just declare a moratorium (perhaps after some public review/feedback), to wait a set number of days after mass shootings before discussions on same (most would probably be cool with that). So then if it wasn’t a mod consensus I thought (touch of the ol’ paranoia here) that certain entities might see a benefit to stopping such debate, and so perhaps hack or disrupt the site somehow, to avoid a discussion or a drift that didn’t suit them. (This in addition to the “camping with a firearm” ad served up on the site when I checked it when it was down.) Hahahah. Silly me. Right?
why is it “odd?” Stuff happens. and sometimes when stuff happens, people have to do a lot of work to make it un-happen. and now people are going to demand a blow-by-blow recounting of everything that happened? and for what? what good would it do if you knew exactly what caused the outage? are you going to personally prevent the next one?
I really doubt it.
“Could we have” is a “demand”?
I really doubt it.
Post mortems are interesting.
1st? 7th? Huh? In what category? I thought it was ranked like 78,204 or something.
The board is moving much faster for me; yeah, Saambaa slows it down a bit, but it’s no longer locking up my screen.
Jast because I’m curious about things like that – did the admin features like the Mod Loop continue to function? Do you have a back-up e-mail chain or other fall-back for when they do not?
I barely FaceBook let alone tweet. In fact today probably amounted to most of my FaceBook posts for the year anywhere.
